PRODUCT INFORMATION
BEHR® Oil-Based Spar Urethane is designed to provide a durable clear protective nish for exterior and interior wood surfaces.
This product is fortied with UV inhibitors. Available in three sheens: Satin, Semi-Gloss and Gloss.
RECOMMENDED USES:
Ideal for properly prepared interior/exterior wood surfaces such as : furniture, doors and wood handrails.

For maximum durability, 3 coats are required
Coverage: Up to 500 sq ft/gal, depending on application
method and substrate porosity.
APPLICATION:
Stir thoroughly prior to and during use. Do not shake or
thin. If wood stain color is desired, apply BEHR® Wood Stain.
Using a high quality natural bristle brush, dip approximately
an inch into the can, gently tapping it against the inside to
remove any excess. Apply a thin, even coat following the
direction of the grain making sure to maintain a wet edge.
To minimize the brush marks and bubbles after staining
application, tip o the surface by holding the brush at a 45°
angle and lightly run the bristles over the entire length of
the wood. Do not puddle, over-brush or overlap nishes.
Sand lightly between coats.

Thinning: DO NOT THIN. Product is formulated for use at
package consistency.
Dry Time: @ 77°F & 50% RH
Longer dry time may be required in cooler temperatures and
higher humidity.
To Touch: 2 hours
Sand or Recoat: 2 – 4 hours
Light Use: 12 – 24 hours
Full Cure: 3 – 4 days
SURFACE PREPARATION:
All surfaces must be clean, free of dust, oil, grease, wax,
polish, glue and all other foreign substances.
For renishing, remove all wax or cleaner build-up with a
wax stripper or degreaser prior to sanding. Sand all surfaces
in the direction of the wood grain to desired smoothness. DO
NOT USE steel wool.
WARNING! If you scrape, sand or remove old paint, you
may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD
DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE,
ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD
ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH-approved respirator
to control lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA
vacuum and a wet mop. Before you start, nd out how to
protect yourself and your family by contacting the National
Lead Information Center at 1-800-424-LEAD or log on to
www.epa.gov/lead.
CLEANUP/DISPOSAL:
Clean all tools and equipment with mineral spirits or paint
thinner, where allowed. Otherwise, use acetone.
DANGER! Rags, steel wool and waste soaked with BEHR
OILBASED SPAR URETHANE may spontaneously catch re
if improperly discarded or stored. To avoid a spontaneous
combustion re, immediately after use, place rags, steel
wool or waste in a sealed water-lled, metal container.
Do not store unused product inside the home. For disposal
guidance, contact your household refuse collection service,
re department, county or state government control
agency.
CAUTIONS/LIMITATIONS:
• Do not apply in direct sunlight or in temperatures below
55°F or above 90°F.
• Roller application is not recommended.
• Shelf life under normal conditions is two years unopened.
• Contents are combustible. Keep away from heat and open
ame.

COMBUSTIBLE LIQUID AND VAPOR. CONTAINS:
PETROLEUM DISTILLATES, XYLENE AND NAPHTHA,
LIGHT AROMATIC. MAY AFFECT THE BRAIN OR
NERVOUS SYSTEM CAUSING DIZZINESS, HEADACHE
OR NAUSEA. CAUSES EYE, SKIN, NOSE AND THROAT
IRRITATION.
NOTICE: Reports have associated
repeated prolonged occupational exposure to solvents
with permanent brain damage. Intentional misuse by
deliberately concentrating and inhaling contents may be
harmful or fatal. Keep away from heat and ame. Do not
smoke. Prevent build-up vapors by opening all windows
and doors to achieve cross-ventilation. Extinguish all
ames and pilot lights and turn o stoves, heaters, electric
motors, high intensity lights and other sources of ignition
during use and until all vapors are gone. USE ONLY WITH
ADEQUATE VENTILATION. To avoid breathing vapors and
spray mist, open windows and doors or use other means to
ensure fresh air entry during application and drying. If you
experience eye watering, headaches or dizziness, increase
fresh air. If properly used, a respirator (NIOSH-approved for
organic vapor with P series particulate pre-lter) may oer
additional protection; obtain professional advice before
using. A dust mask does not provide protection against
vapors. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Wash thoroughly
after handling. Close container after each use.
