PRODUCT INFORMATION
BEHR® OIL-BASED PRE STAIN WOOD CONDITIONER is a clear sealer designed to promote uniform stain application on soft
woods, such as pine, fir, birch , maple and hemlock. Generally, softer woods accept stain in varying degrees creating an uneven
and blotchy appearance. This product helps to minimize the variation and prepares wood surfaces for staining with oil-based
stains.
RECOMMENDED USES:
Ideal for properly prepared interior bare or stripped wood surfaces prior to applying BEHR Oil -Based Wood Stains.

APPLICATION:
Stir thoroughly before using. Do not shake or thin. Use a nylon
or nylon/polyester brush or a saturated clean cloth and apply
liberally to all areas of the wood surface including edges. Allow
to penetrate for 5 to 10 minutes, then remove any excess with
clean, dry cloth. Apply BEHR Oil-Based Wood Stain or BEHR Oil-
Based Stain & Poly In One.
Brush: Nylon/polyester brush
Thinning: D o not thin. Product is formulated for use at
package consistency only.
Dry Time: @ 77°F & 50% RH
Longer dry time may be required in cooler temperatures and
higher humidity.

CAUTIONS/LIMITATIONS:
• Not for use with water-based stains. For water-based stains
pre-treat wood with BEHR WATER-BASED PRE STAIN WOOD
CONDITIONER.
• Shelf life under normal conditions is 2 years unopened.
• Contents are combustible. Keep away from heat and open
flame.
All surfaces must be clean, free of dust, oil, grease, wax, polish
and all other foreign substances.
New Wood: Sand the wood thoroughly with medium grit
sandpaper and progress to fine grit sandpaper. Always sand in
the direction of the wood grain. Sand smooth and remove all
dust.
Previously Finished Wood: Strip the surface completely down
to bare wood with a paint or varnish remover such as BEHR
PREMIUM Wood Stain & Finish Stripper No. 64, making sure all
previous finishes are removed. Surface must be sanded smooth
and remove all dust prior to application.
WARNING! If you scrape, sand or remove old paint, you may
release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST
CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE,
ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO
AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH-approved respirator to
control lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA vacuum
and a wet mop. Before you start, find out how to protect
yourself and your family by contacting the National Lead
Information Center at 1-800-424-LEAD or log on to
www.epa.gov/lead.
CLEAN-UP/DISPOSAL:
Clean all tools and equipment with mineral spirits or paint
thinner, where allowed. Otherwise, use acetone.
DANGER! Rags, steel wool and waste soaked with BEHR OIL-
BASED PRE-STAIN WOOD CONDITIONER may spontaneously
catch fire if improperly discarded or stored. To avoid a
spontaneous combustion fire, immediately after use, place
rags, steel wool or waste in a sealed water-filled, metal
container. Do not store unused product inside the home. For
disposal guidance, contact your household refuse collection
service, fire department, county or state government control
agency.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
DANGER! HARMFUL OR FATAL IF SWALLOWED.
COMBUSTIBLE LIQUID AND VAPOR. CONTAINS: PETROLEUM
DISTILLATES AND AN OXIDIZING OIL. MAY AFFECT THE BRAIN
OR NERVOUS SYSTEM CAUSING DIZZINESS, HEADACHE OR
NAUSEA. CAUSES EYE, SKIN, NOSE AND THROAT IRRITATION.
NOTICE: Reports have associated repeated prolonged
occupational exposure to solvents with permanent brain damage.
Intentional misuse by deliberately concentrating and inhaling
contents may be harmful or fatal. Keep away from heat and flame.
Do not smoke. Prevent build-up vapors by opening all windows
and doors to achieve cross-ventilation. Extinguish all flames and
pilot lights and turn off stoves, heaters, electric motors, high
intensity lights and other sources of ignition during use and until
all vapors are gone. USE ONLY WITH ADEQUATE VENTILATION.
To avoid breathing vapors and spray mist, open windows and
doors or use other means to ensure fresh air entry during
application and drying. If you experience eye watering, headaches
or dizziness, increase fresh air. If properly used, a respirator
(NIOSH-approved for organic vapor with P series particulate pre-
filter) may offer additional protection; obtain professional advice
before using. A dust mask does not provide protection against
vapors. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Wash thoroughly after
handling. Close container after each use. FIRST AID: If you
experience difficulty in breathing, leave the area to obtain fresh
air. If continued difficulty is experienced, get medical assistance
immediately. In case of eye contact, flush immediately with plenty
of water for at least 20 minutes and get medical attention; for
skin, wash thoroughly with soap and water. If swallowed, do not
induce vomiting. Call physician immediately. CAUTION: KEEP
OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN-DO NOT TAKE INTERNALLY.
