A. MicroMed MM-5kV Portable Electrosurgical Instrument

McGan Technology’s MicroMed MM-5kV electrosurgical insula-

tion defect detector is a compact, hand held, battery operated

device. The MM-5kV may prevent inadvertent burns and exter-

nal skin injury which can occur during electrosurgical proce-

dures. Electrosurgical instruments may have defects (pin-

holes) in the insulation - electrosurgical instrument insulation

failure. Insulation failure happens over time, through normal

surgical use. The insulation failure provides an alternate path-

way for the current to leave the instrument's electrode and can

result in a burn. Using an electrosurgical test equipment main-

tenance program can greatly reduce the number of inadvertent

burns during electrosurgical procedures.

Application: in Facilities that do not use a large number of ESIs

over a short period of time

• Reusable / Interchangeable Brush or Ring electrode

• Simple operation, easy to read LCD display

• Maintains applied test voltage with constant current source

• Full test current at low voltages

McGan McGan Technology's MicroMed PD-8K electrosurgical

insulation defect detector is a portable, battery operated

device. It is used to detect and locate defects such as pinholes

and cracks in protective coatings applied over conductive

instrument's (ESI) surfaces.

Application: in Facilities that use a large number of ESIs over a

short period of time

• Operational during battery re-charging

• Simple operation, easy to read LCD display

• Multiple alarms to indicate failure

• Maintains applied test voltage with constant current source

• Limited output current for operator safety

• Regulated DC output, adjustable from 0 to 8 kV
