The Model 24 Data Exchange System allows peripheral (printer,
plotter) sharing, between multiple computers and a single peripheral or
multiple peripherals. In multiple peripheral applications, users may
contend for the next available peripheral on a first-in-first-out-basis or
select a specific peripheral. Print data is stored in the unit's buffer and
sent to the peripheral as it can receive the information.
From the factory, the Model 24 is preset to allow multiple computers to
share one peripheral. The default printer port is Port 2. If your
application requires sharing multiple peripherals or if you will be sharing
a single peripheral with a parallel interface, you must access
configuration mode and change the Port Designation for the
appropriate port(s).
