2. Updates to this manual and other manuals, and more information, may be found on the web:
Kitt Peak/NOAO web site www.kpno.noao.edu/manuals/flmn
University of Florida www.flamingos.astro.ufl.edu/index.html
www.flamingos.astro.ufl.edu/Manuals/
Richard Elston's web page

3. In the event of a power outage for which the mountain does not switch to generator, please contact the
mountain staff about properly shutting down the FLAMINGOS computers (flamingos1a & flamingos1b).
There is a shutdown manual available off of the Manuals web page, but the procedure requires someone with
root access (e.g. the mountain staff, or anyone on the list above).
X.Acknowledgements & Other Bits
This version of the manual is substantially more complete from previous versions. Information has been
incorporated from previous versions written by Katherine Wu, and Richard Elston and Elizabeth Lada. Helpful
suggestions, comments and questions came from (in no particular order): Joanna Levine, Michael Ledlow, Jay
Elias, Ron Probst, Dick Joyce, Mark Dickinson, Peter Eisenhardt, and Dan Stern.
Written in StarOffice 6.0, a nice program, but with a buggy Postscript driver. To generate a good
Postscript version of this document: (1) print to file, (2) run ps2pdf12, Ver. 6.52 to convert it to PDF, (3)
finally run xpdf, Ver. 2.33 to generate sane Postscript that actually will print.
