GARAGE DOOR FRAME ASSEMBLY / INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
90 DEGREE CORNERS
Note: Assembly and installation of this aluminum garage door frame requires two people.
Tools required
screw gun, rubber hammer, level.
Additional materials required (not included): color match caulk, shims, nails or screws to fasten frame to
rough opening
Rough Openings
Width: 3 inches wider than the finished opening
Height: 1 ½ inches higher than the finished opening
Open package and check contents
Open garage door frame package and lay on level surface being careful not toscratch the aluminum. Package
contains 2 aluminum vertical jamb aluminum header, and 1 hardware package. The 90 degree hardware
package utilizes two - 90 degree gussets and 4 screws.
Assembly of 90 degree corner frame
1. Insert 90 degree corner gusset into header and vertical jamb. Repeat on opposite corner.
a. Assembled corners should have minimum separation between the aluminum header and
vertical aluminum jamb along the exposed face and nosing.
2. Install a pan head screw into the screw boss on the top and side of each corner as shown below
3. Tip the frame into the rough opening using two people to eliminate any twisting on the frame causing
the miters to separate.
a. Attach frame to exterior wall surface by nailing or screwing through the nail fin (nails or
screws are not included).
b. Next using wood shims (not included), shim until vertical frame legs are plumb and square.
c. Then fasten with screws or nails (not included) through exposed composite material on frame.
i. Nail or screw every 18 inches.
4. Using a color matched caulk (not included), caulk face and inside miter joints as shown. (Note:
perimeter weather-strip sold separately).
