Examining Configuration File Reports
The Report Generator creates a report of an existing configuration file; it does not
record changes as they are made to the file, only the file’s existing contents. The
Report Generator creates a report by translating the router’s binary configuration
file to an ASCII file. You can use any standard text editor to view and print the file.
You can also use source-comparison utilities to compare one report with another
to detect configuration changes.
The configuration file is difficult to read by looking through Site Manager
configuration windows. Using the Report Generator, you receive a report that is
easy to read and useful for cross-referencing information against another router’s
configuration report. It is a helpful tool for troubleshooting your router’s
configuration.
