Oven programmer/timer display 12) 13) 14) “Auto” function symbol “Minute minder” symbol “Manual operation” symbol Setting and using the oven programmer/timer Selecting manual operation mode After your appliance is connected to your mains supply for the first time, the numbers on the timer display will flash. Before you can select a cooking function or set a temperature, you must set the appliance into manual operation mode.
o You should make sure that any windows in the room are left open during this process. o It is advisable for you not to remain in the room whilst the burning off process is taking place. o You should leave the oven on maximum setting for 30 – 40 minutes. Setting the minute minder function You are able to set the minute minder at any time, regardless of whether an oven function has been selected.
Setting the duration function This function will allow you to set a countdown time similar to the minute minder function. However the oven will no longer continue to heat, once the countdown period has elapsed. o Use the oven function selector knob (1) to select the mode of cooking that you require. o Use the thermostat control knob (2) to set the temperature that you require. The manual operation symbol (14) will appear on the display.
Setting the end cook function This function is similar to the duration function, however instead of selecting a period of time that you wish the oven to switch off after. You select the time of day that you wish the oven to switch off at. o Use the oven function selector knob (1) to select the mode of cooking that you require. o Use the thermostat control knob (2) to set the temperature that you require. The manual operation symbol (14) will appear on the display.
Setting the start and end time function This function will allow you to set a time in the future that the oven switches on at and a time that the oven will switch off at. o Use the oven function selector knob (1) to select the mode of cooking that you require. o Use the thermostat control knob (2) to set the temperature that you require. The manual operation symbol (14) will appear on the display. o Press the duration button (7) and the display will show a value of 00:00.
Adjusting the audible signal o The audible signal has three different settings, low, medium and high. o To adjust the level of the audible signal, make sure that the timer is in manual mode. Then press and hold the minus button (10) and you will hear the current level that is set. o Press the minus button again and the audible signal will adjust to the next level. o When the required level of audible signal is reached, release the minus button and it will be set.
CONVENTIONAL OVEN (top and lower element): This method of cooking provides traditional cooking, with heat from the top and lower elements. This function is suitable for roasting and baking on one shelf only. FAN AND LOWER ELEMENT: This method of cooking utilises the bottom element in conjunction with the fan, which helps to circulate the heat. This function is suitable for sterilizing and preserving jars.
FAN AND LOWER ELEMENT: This method of cooking utilises the bottom element in conjunction with the fan, which helps to circulate the heat. FAN AND GRILL: This method of cooking utilises the top element in conjunction with the fan, which helps to provide a quick circulation of heat. This function is suitable where quick browning is required and “sealing” the juices in, such as steaks, hamburgers, some vegetables etc.
Thermostat control knob (P631SS) The oven thermostat control knob sets the required temperature of the oven. It is possible to regulate the temperature within a range of 50 250°C. The temperature that you have set will appear on the oven programmer. Oven operating light This light will come on to indicate that the oven’s heating elements are in operation. The light will turn off when the temperature set on the thermostat control knob has been reached. It will cycle on and off throughout the cooking time.
o Make sure that frozen foods are thoroughly thawed before cooking, unless the instructions on the food packaging advise that you can “cook from frozen”. o Before cooking, check that any accessories that are not required are removed from the oven. o Place cooking trays in the centre of the oven and leave gaps between the trays to allow air to circulate. o Try to open the door as little as possible to view the dishes. o The oven light will remain on during cooking.

o The grill heating element and other internal components of the oven become extremely hot during operation, avoid touching them inadvertently when handling the food which you are grilling. o Important: Be careful when opening the door, to avoid contact with hot parts of the oven and steam. o The enamelled baking tray handle should only be used to reposition the baking and NOT for removing it from the oven cavity. When removing the baking tray, you should ALWAYS use an oven glove.
o You should make sure that the cooking temperature that is selected is appropriate for the food that you are cooking. You should also ensure that the food is placed in an adequately sized dish and use the enamelled baking tray where appropriate. o Outer parts of the oven should only be cleaned with warm soapy water, using either a sponge or soft cloth. No abrasive cleaners should be used.
Replacing the oven bulb IMPORTANT: The oven must be disconnected from your mains supply before you attempt to either remove or replace the oven bulb. o Remove all oven shelves, the drip tray and the side rack that is on the same side as the oven light. o Remove the light cover (A) by turning it anti-clockwise. o Unscrew the bulb (B) anticlockwise and remove it from its holder. o Replace the bulb with a 25 W/300°C, screw type pygmy. o Do not use any other type of bulb.
Removing the oven door for cleaning To facilitate the cleaning of the inside of the oven and the outer frame of the oven, the door can be removed as follows:o The hinges (A) have two movable bolts on them (B). o If you raise both of the movable bolts (B), then the hinges (A) are released from the oven housing. o You should grip the sides of the door at the centre and then incline it slightly towards the oven cavity and then by pulling it gently away from the oven cavity.
Removing the inner door glass for cleaning o Do not use any abrasive cleaner that could cause damage. o Remember that if the surface of the glass panel becomes scratched, this could lead to a dangerous failure. o To facilitate cleaning, the inner door glass can be lifted out. (P625SS and P631SS) o To facilitate cleaning, the door glass can be lifted out. o Open the door of the oven to a 45° angle. o There is a plastic sealing section at the top of the oven door, which has 4 small slots in it.
o Carefully slide out the middle door glass removing it from the oven door. o Follow the same procedure for the inner door glass o Repeat this process for the other slots and you will be able to lift the plastic sealing section away from the top of the door. o This will allow you to access the inner door glasses. o Carefully slide out the middle door glass removing it from the oven door.
o Place a coin horizontally into one of the small slots and rotate the coin clockwise. You will feel part of the plastic sealing section disengage from the door. o Repeat this process for the other slots and you will be able to lift the plastic sealing section away from the top of the door. o This will allow you to access the inner door glasses. o Carefully slide out the middle door glass removing it from the oven door.
INSTALLATION The installation must be carried out by a suitably qualified person, in accordance with the current version of the following. o UK Regulations and Safety Standards or their European Norm Replacements. o Building Regulations (issued by the Department of the Environment). o Building Standards (issued by the Scottish Development Department). o IEE Wiring Regulations. o Electricity At Work Regulations.
o If the mains supply cable is damaged, then it must be replaced by an appropriate replacement which can be obtained from the Baumatic Spares Department. Installing the oven into the kitchen cabinet Positioning the appliance o Ensure that the aperture that you will be fitting the oven into is of the size given in the above diagram. o The oven must be fitted into an oven housing with the ventilation cut-outs shown in the “Ventilation requirements” section on the next page.
Ventilation requirements (Figure shows the ventilation and cut-out requirements for the installation of the appliance into a standard kitchen unit). (Figure shows the ventilation and cutout requirements for the installation of the appliance into a tall housing unit).
Installing the oven into the housing unit o IMPORTANT: Before installing the appliance into the housing unit, YOU MUST attach the “drip catcher” to the lower front edge of the oven using the 3 screws supplied. The above line drawing shows how you attach the “drip catcher”. o Ensure that the oven has been securely fixed into the housing unit. The fixing of the oven into the housing is made by using four screws. These should be screwed through the oven cabinet and into the housing unit.
My appliance isn’t working correctly o The oven isn’t coming on. * Check that the oven is in manual operation mode. * Check that you have selected a cooking function and a cooking temperature. o There appears to be no power to the oven and grill. * Check that the appliance has been connected to the electrical mains supply correctly. * Check that the mains fuses are in working order.
o I am getting condensation in my oven. * Steam and condensation is a natural by product of cooking any food with high water content, such as frozen food, chicken etc. * You may get condensation in the oven cavity and forming between the oven door glasses. This is not necessarily a sign that the oven is not working correctly. * Do not leave food in the oven to cool after it has been cooked and the oven has been switched off.
