Environmental note Note: Before discarding an old appliance, switch off and disconnect it from the power supply. Cut off and render any plug useless. Cut the cable off directly behind the appliance to prevent misuse. This should be undertaken by a competent person. Disable the door lock to make sure that children cannot get stuck inside the appliance.

IMPORTANT: Any installation work must be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person. Use of the appliance o Your appliance is only designed to be used in the home.
Child safety o Packaging material should be kept away from children. o Children should not be allowed to touch the controls or play with the appliance. General safety o Do not pull on the power supply cable to remove the plug from your mains supply socket. o Do not pull out or insert the plug with wet hands. o Do not attempt to use your appliance outdoors or any place where it is likely to come into contact with the elements.

Control panel & thermostat control No frost freezing unit Interior illumination Freezing and storage drawers Large storage drawer Adjustable feet Wheels o The freezer drawers are protected against accidental extraction. o To remove a drawer from the appliance, open it and lift the front part upwards. Then pull it out. o Certain models are fitted with pull out slide guides which facilitate opening.
Using your Baumatic freezer Before switching on o Make sure that it has been installed by a suitably qualified person, as per the information contained in Baumatic’s installation instructions. o After delivery, wait for eight hours before connecting the appliance to your mains supply. This will allow any refrigerant gasses that may have been disturbed during the transportation process, are allowed to settle.
Control panel (Model with buttons) (Model without buttons) o A: Temperature selector and on/off button o B: Green LED (illuminates when the appliance is switched on) o C: Freezer alarm off button (model with buttons only) o D: Freezer alarm LED o E: Fast Freeze button (model with buttons only) o F: Fast Freeze LED o G: Digital freezer temperature display. Indicates the actual freezer temperature inside the appliance, from -16°C to -24°C* * Certain models only.
Turning on the appliance and setting the thermostat You switch on your appliance by connecting it to your mains supply and setting the thermostat. The thermostat is located on the right hand side of the control panel. o The appliance is switched on by turning dial A towards the Max position. o The green LED will come on when the dial moves past Min. o The appliance is switched off when the arrow on . the dial points to the ON/OFF symbol However the appliance is still under mains power.
The digital display o On models with a digital display, when you are adjusting the thermostat position, the display will flash and indicate the set temperature. o When the flashing stops, the setting of the temperature is complete and it is stored in the appliance’s memory. o Please allow time for the appliance to reduce down to the desired temperature. o Each time the appliance is switched on for the first time, the digital display (G) indicates a temperature of -16°C and flashes.
Freezing fresh food o To freeze the maximum quantity of fresh food specified above, you should activate the Fast Freeze function 24 hours prior to attempting freezing. o For smaller quantities of fresh food, you should activate the Fast Freeze function approximately 6 hours prior to attempting freezing.* *For more information on the Fast Freeze function, please see the “Setting the Fast Freeze function” o Fresh food should be packed into airtight containers or packaging.
o If you are freezing liquid, then do not fill the container to the brim. Liquids will expand when being frozen. o Do not place bottles (glass or tin) containing liquids (especially sparkling liquids) into the freezer as they could cause the bottle to burst during freezing. Storing commercially frozen food o The storage time and recommended temperature for storing commercially frozen foods, are indicated on the packaging. o Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for storage and use of frozen food.
Defrosting frozen food o Partially thawed or defrosted foods should be used as soon as possible. o Cold air preserves the food but it does not destroy the micro organisms which rapidly activate themselves after defrosting and make foods perishable. o Partial defrosting reduces the nutritional value of food, especially fruits, vegetables and readymade meals. Fast freeze function (Model with buttons) o To activate the fast freeze function, press button E. o The orange LED light (F) will come on.
Making ice cubes o Remove the cap from the ice tray and fill it to the indicating mark with cold water or some other liquid, suitable for freezing. o Close it and place it in the door shelf. The ice tray can produce 8 cubes. o The period required for ice to form is 2-6 hours. It is recommended to make a quantity of ice, prior to the time that you require it. o Ice cubes are discharged from the tray by turning the tray upside down and placing it under cold running water.
Defrosting your freezer o Your appliance is frost free, so there is no need to defrost it manually. o You may occasionally see the appearance of a frost layer, but over a period of time the frost free system will remove it. Cleaning and maintenance WARNING: PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOUR APPLIANCE IS DISCONNECTED FROM YOUR MAINS SUPPLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO CLEAN IT. o Do not clean the appliance by pouring water onto it or spraying water over it.
Replacing the light bulb WARNING: PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOUR APPLIANCE IS DISCONNECTED FROM YOUR MAINS SUPPLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO REPLACE THE LIGHT BULB. o Remove the plastic cover and replace the bulb with a new one. o The bulb that you should use is an E14 max, which is the same as the bulb originally fitted by the factory. o Please dispose of the bulb correctly. o The light bulb is not covered by Baumatic’s guarantee.
o As the colours of the wires in the appliance’s mains lead may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your spur box, please proceed as follows: The brown wire must be connected to the terminal marked “L” (live), or coloured red. The blue wire must be connected to the terminal marked “N” (neutral), or coloured black. The green and yellow wire must be connected to the terminal marked “E” (earth), or by the earth symbol, or coloured green and yellow.
o Anything positioned above the appliance must be at least 5 cm away to allow sufficient cooling of the condenser. You must allow a 15mm gap to the rear of the appliance. o Avoid exposing the appliance to direct sunlight or heat sources. If this is not feasible, then you should install an insulation plate between the appliance and the adjacent heat source. o The bottom front corners of your appliance are fitted with handles to facilitate moving.
Reversing the door of your appliance Caution! After unscrewing any of the fixing hinges, hold the door to prevent it from falling and causing damage. Any parts that you remove from the appliance whilst reversing the door, should be retained for later use. Required tools; socket spanner number 8, screwdriver, torque 25. o Remove the upper hinge cover from both sides of the appliance. o WHILST SUPPORTING THE DOOR, unscrew upper hinge screws and remove the upper door from the middle hinge.
o Tilt the appliance backward at a maximum angle of 35°. Unscrew the leg support screws (C) - left and right, and remove the leg support cover (D). Then place it on the opposite side. o Unscrew, remove and then replace the position of the end switch (E) and decorative peg (F) (for models with forced door closing system). o Unscrew the three screws fixing the bottom hinge and then fix the bottom hinge on the opposite side.
o The thermostat setting is too low, you should turn the thermostat up higher. o Ensure that the door is closing properly and that the door has not been opened for a prolonged period in error. o Ensure that there is adequate ventilation for your appliance. My freezer is noisy o The refrigerant gas that circulates the pipework of the appliance may make a slight noise, even if the compressor is not running.
