IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION Your safety is of the utmost importance to Baumatic. Please make sure that you read this instruction booklet before attempting to install or use the appliance. If you are unsure of any of the information contained in this booklet, please contact the Baumatic Technical Department. IMPORTANT: Any installation work must be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person.
o The edges of the cooker hood are sharp – be mindful of this as you handle your appliance, especially during installation and cleaning. DO NOT CLEAN IN BEHIND THE GREASE FILTER! o If the room where the cooker hood is to be used contains a fuel burning appliance such as a central heating boiler then its flue must be of the sealed or balanced flue type. o If other types of flue or appliances are fitted, ensure that there is an adequate supply of air in the room.
o Remember that when in extraction mode, your cooker hood is removing air from your room. Ensure that proper ventilation measures are being observed. o Note that the cooker hood removes odours from your kitchen, not steam. o Warning - Always ensure that the cooker hood has been disconnected from the power supply before carrying out any work on the hood, including cleaning and replacing light bulbs.

To use your cooker hood o Make sure that it has been installed by a suitably qualified person, as per the information contained in Baumatic’s installation instructions. o Find the control panel, which can be located by opening the front panel and looking on the right hand side of the cooker hood. o There are two sliders on the control panel, which perform separate functions.
IMPORTANT: IDEALLY YOU SHOULD TURN ON YOUR HOOD TEN MINUTES BEFORE YOU START TO COOK, OR AT THE VERY LEAST WHEN YOU BEGIN COOKING. YOU SHOULD ALSO RUN YOUR HOOD FOR TEN MINUTES AFTER YOU HAVE FINISHED COOKING. Cleaning your Baumatic cooker hood IMPORTANT: BEFORE CLEANING, ALWAYS ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE SWITCHED YOUR COOKER HOOD OFF AT THE OMNI-POLAR SWITCH, SET AT THE WALL FROM THE CABLE. Cleaning o Clean the external parts of your cooker hood with mild liquid detergent and a new damp cloth.
Maintenance Removing and cleaning the grease filter (BT06.7ME) o To access the grease filter, open the front panel and push the two catches (A) upwards. o To take out the grease filter you should remove it from the flexible wire flame o Soak the grease filter in hot water and washing up liquid for about an hour. o Rinse it off thoroughly with hot water. o Repeat the process if required. o Refit the grease filter once it has dried.
Removing and cleaning the grease filters (BT08.7ME) o Open the front cover. Remove the grease filters by pulling down on their handles, and then pulling them upwards away from the main body of the cooker hood. o Soak the grease filters in hot water and washing up liquid for about an hour. o Rinse them off thoroughly with hot water. o Repeat the process if required. o Refit the grease filters once they have dried and then close the front cover.
Changing a light bulb IMPORTANT: BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE A LIGHT BULB, YOU MUST ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE DISCONNECTED THE COOKER HOOD FROM YOUR MAINS SUPPLY. o Open the front cover and remove the grease filter (as described on page 11 or 12). o Prior to touching the light bulbs ensure that they have cooled down. o Find the bulb that requires replacement, you will find it located in the light fixture which is inside the exposed section of the canopy.
o Open the front screen and remove the grease filter (as described on page 11 or 12). o If you are replacing the existing carbon filter, then you need to remove it by twisting it anti-clockwise. o Hook the carbon filter over the central fixing box on the motor. o Turn the carbon filter clockwise, until you feel it click into place. o (BT08.7ME only) Repeat this process for the second carbon filter. You need to place a carbon filter over both motors. o Refit the grease filter and close the front screen.
Installation IMPORTANT: Before installation and usage read all the instructions and make sure that the voltage (V) and the frequency (Hz) indicated on the rating plate are exactly the same as the voltage and frequency in your home. The rating plate can be found behind the grease filter.
o As the colours of the wires in the appliance’s mains lead may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your spur box, please proceed as follows: o The blue wire must be connected to the terminal marked “N” (neutral), or coloured black. o The brown wire must be connected to the terminal marked “L” (live), or coloured red. Before beginning installation o Check that the product purchased is of a suitable size for the chosen installation area.
Installing your cooker hood IMPORTANT: YOU WILL HAVE TO DECIDE BEFORE INSTALLING YOUR COOKER HOOD WHETHER TO USE IT IN EXTRACTION MODE OR RECIRCULATION MODE. PLEASE TURN TO PAGES 21-22 NOW TO UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THESE TWO MODES. o We recommend that at least two people install this hood. o Your cooker hood should only be fitted to a wall and secured between two cupboards. o It must be positioned at least 700 mm above the hob underneath it.
2. Whilst the front panel is still open, remove the two screws (B). Press the tab (C) down and remove the front panel from its guide rails. 3. Secure the extractor mounting brackets (D) onto the top of the hood, using the screws and washers (E) supplied. Check that the adjustment screw (F) is fitted.
4. Measure a distance of 1050 mm between the highest point on the hob top and the wall that you will be fixing the hood to. You should also measure and record the distance between the top of the extractor mounting brackets (D). o Using a pencil, mark this height and then attach the two mounting brackets (G) to the wall at this height, using the screws provided. They should be positioned the same distance apart as the extractor mounting brackets (D). IMPORTANT: These screws must be securely tightened.
6. If there is a gap between the rear of the cooker hood and the rear wall. There is a spacer provided that can be cut to the size of the gap and attached to the rear of the cooker hood. 7. IMPORTANT: The cooker hood must now be fixed to the adjacent cabinets, using the screws provided. You should screw through the holes in the side of the hood, into the adjacent cabinets. THESE SCREWS MUST BE FULLY TIGHTENED. 8. Place the front panel against the furniture door.
Connecting to external ducting o Connect the coupling to the top or the rear of the cooker hood, and then connect a 125 mm ducting hose to the coupling (please note that the ducting hose is not supplied with the appliance). o You may find an anti-draft flap included with the fixtures and fittings for the cooker hood. You should sit this in the top of the coupling. o If you use the rear or top venting position, the other one should be blocked off using the blanking plate supplied.
Extraction mode or recirculation mode? IMPORTANT: YOU WILL HAVE TO DECIDE BEFORE INSTALLING YOUR COOKER HOOD WHETHER TO USE IT IN EXTRACTION MODE OR RECIRCULATION MODE. What is the difference between extraction and recirculation modes? In extraction mode, the stale air will be taken via the grease filter and out of the room via external ducting. In recirculation mode stale air is taken via the grease filter, and passed through charcoal filters for purification.
Troubleshooting IMPORTANT: If your cooker hood appears not to be operating properly, before contacting the Baumatic Service Department, please refer to the checklist below. My cooker hood will not start. o Check that the hood is connected to the electricity supply o Check that the fan speed control is set correctly. My cooker hood is not working effectively. o The fan speed is not set high enough o The grease filter is dirty and requires cleaning. o The kitchen is not well ventilated enough.
IMPORTANT: If your appliance appears not to be operating correctly, then you should disconnect it from your mains supply and then contact the Baumatic Service Department on telephone number (0118) 933 6911. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE APPLIANCE YOURSELF. Please note that if an engineer is asked to attend whilst the product is under guarantee and finds that the problem is not the result of an appliance fault, then you may be liable for the cost of the call out charge.
