Plug the charger into the mains socket and switch on at the wall outlet. The lights on the charger will illuminate after a few seconds. Power Charge CHARGING Power Charge Power Charge CHARGED The RED light indicates that mains power is applied. The other light will show ORANGE/RED whilst charging is taking place. This may take up to six hours for a flat battery. When the battery is charged the ORANGE/RED light will change to GREEN. Once charged, switch off at the wall outlet and unplug.
Usage Your BATRIBIKE Electric Bicycle can be used as a normal pedal cycle by simply not switching on the battery.
ELECTRIC BICYCLE FUNCTIONS Switching On To use under electric power, Switch on the battery with the key located on the top left side of the battery Then press the POWER button on the handlebar LCD display. Control Buttons By means of the three buttons, UP, POWER and DOWN, on the handlebar mounted display unit, the various functions of the power controller and Cycle Computer can be utilised. See the following sections for details.
Battery Meter The LCD shows the charge remaining in the battery in the upper left of the display. The indicators will gradually go out as the battery power is used up. Refer to the table below for details. BATTERY METER DISPLAYS THE CHARGE REMAINING IN THE BATTERY SYMBOL DISPLAYED CHARGE REMAINING FLASHING 70 - 100% 50 - 70% 30 - 50% 15 - 30% 0 - 15% BATTERY IS EXHAUSTED AND SHOULD BE RECHARGED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE Display Backlighting - Night Mode The LCD has a backlight for night time use.
Speed Display The centre large digits will normally display the current speed of the bicycle. For the UK market this is set to show miles per hour (MPH). The display is accurate to about 10% when the wheel size is correctly calibrated and the tyre inflated as per the manufacturers recommendations.
Pedal Assistance There are 5 levels of pedal assistance available from the motor. Using the Up and DOWN buttons you can select from level 1 (LOW) to 5 (HIGH). The motor will then be activated upon pedalling. There is a rotation sensor located near the crank which senses when the pedals are being used. PEDAL ASSISTANCE FROM THE MOTOR LEVEL PERFORMANCE 28 miles 15.
Weather and terrain will affect the performance. In hilly areas or when the bike is heavily loaded there will be a significant increase in the power used from the battery and hence the range will decrease accordingly. A lightly loaded bike will achieve higher performance levels. (These results were ontained by test riders in optimal conditions - 75kg rider, level ground, no wind). No Assistance - Normal Pedal Bicycle If the assistance level is set to 0, (ZERO) then the motor will not be turned on.
Using the Throttle - Country Specific To activate the throttle, select level 6. "Assist 6" will be displayed on the LCD panel. In this mode the throttle on the left handlebar, (twist-grip), is now live. In all other assistance levels the throttle is not functional. You can still pedal the bike but power will not be applied until the throttle is activated. To activate, twist the left grip towards the rider. Use the throttle control gently. A small twist will apply a small amount of power.
Launch Assist If you want help in setting off on inclines or to get a smooth getaway at junctions and traffic lights, there is a system available whereby the motor can be applied even when no assistance is selected. This is known as Launch Assist and is activated by holding down the DOWN button for 2 seconds. The motor will be switched on in low speed and will continue on until the DOWN button is released. The bicycle will be powered at approximately 4 MPH, (6 KMH).
CYCLE COMPUTER The LCD models have useful Cycle Computer functions built in. There is a built in sensor and pickup located in the rear hub which activates the speed and distance readings. Normal Display When first turned on the display shows the Trip Time (TM) in the top right and the Trip Distance (DST) in the bottom right. The Speed is always shown in the centre right section of the display.
Average Speed When Total Time and Odometer have been selected, clicking the UP or DOWN buttons sets the display to show Average Speed (AVS) or Maximum Speed (MXS) in the centre section. EITHER Average Speed Maximum Speed Momentarily pressing the POWER button will return the display to Normal showing the Trip Time (TM) and Trip Distance (DST).
STANDARD BICYCLE FUNCTIONS Gears The SPRINT is provided with 8 speed MicroShift gears. To change gear you use the right handlebar mounted selector levers. Gear number 1 is low for hills and rough terrain and gear 8 is high for normal road use. To increase the gear simply push the upper lever with your right thumb. To decrease the gear push the larger lower lever away from you with your thumb. You must be pedalling forwards as you change gears. Lights Lights are provided on your BATRIBIKE bicycle.
The rear light requires 2 AA batteries. You will require a small screwdriver to take off the red lens for battery replacement. It is switched on and off by the small red push button switch on the rear of the unit. Either of the types shown above may be fitted. Braking To stop, release the throttle and pull the brake levers. Side Stand To put the bicycle on its stand:1) While holding the bicycle upright, push the stand to its full extent. 2) Lean the bicycle over onto the stand.
Quick Release fittings for Seat Height Adjustment With the locking lever in the loose position, tighten the nut until finger tight. The final tightening is done by moving the lever to the locked position. To undo move the lever to the loose position to enable height adjustment. Loose Locked Adjusting the Front Suspension The front suspension can be adjusted for softness and preload by using the adjusters on the top of the forks. To adjust the preload, locate the tab on the top of the left fork tube.
All other operation of your BATRIBIKE Electric Bicycle is as per a normal pedal cycle.
MAINTAINANCE SCHEDULE Maintaining your bicycle ensures you’ll get the most out of every ride and out of the entire life of your BATRIBIKE electric bike. How much of your bike’s maintenance you can do yourself will depend on your knowledge, skill, experience and whether you have the necessary tools for the job. Beyond this manual, it is good to consult your BATRIBIKE dealer for advice if you are at all unsure about any of the procedures described.
After 3,000 miles (5,000 km) (or YEARLY) ● Hub motor and general inspection We recommend you arrange to have a thorough inspection of your bicycle by a BATRIBIKE dealer. This includes opening up the hub motor to inspect and lubricate the gears. Tyre Pressures The tyres should be pumped up to within the range stated on the sidewall.
