Basler ace GigE 55
5.5 Camera Power
Power can be supplied to the camera in either of two different ways:
via Power over Ethernet (PoE), i.e., via the Ethernet cable plugged into the camera’s RJ-45
connector.
from a power supply via a power and I/O cable (either a standard cable or a PLC cable)
plugged into the camera’s 6-pin connector.
Via PoE
If you are supplying power via PoE, the power provided must adhere to the requirements specified
in IEEE 802.3af.
Power consumption is as shown in the specification tables in Section 1 of this manual.
From a Power Supply to the 6-Pin Connector
Camera power can be provided from a power supply to the camera’s 6-pin connector via a standard
power and I/O cable or via a PLC power and I/O cable.
Nominal operating voltage is +12 VDC (± 10%) with less than one percent ripple. Power
consumption is as shown in the specification tables in Section 1 of this manual.
Close proximity to strong magnetic fields should be avoided.
We recommend that you supply power to the camera either via the camera’s RJ-
45 jack or via the camera’s 6-pin connector.
NOTICE
Voltage outside of the specified range can cause damage.
If the voltage of the power to the camera is greater than +13.2 VDC, damage to the camera can
result. If the voltage is less than +11.3 VDC, the camera may operate erratically.
NOTICE
Voltage outside of the specified range can cause damage.
Note that the recommended voltage range for camera power (see above) differs from the
recommended voltage ranges for the input and output lines (see Section 5.7.1 on page 57 and
Section 5.8.1 on page 62).
Note also that the recommended voltage range for camera power for Basler ace GigE cameras
can differ from the recommended voltage range for camera power for other Basler cameras.
