6. Installation
Follow the information contained in the chapter “Preparing installation”.
1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the two short screws that connect the rear plastic wall
bracket to the base.
2. Remove the plastic wall bracket.
If necessary, use a long tool to lever out the plastic wall bracket.
Be careful not to damage the plastic wall bracket. A damaged plastic wall bracket may
allow water to enter the product housing.
3. Perforate the three screw hole markings inside the plastic wall bracket with a sharp object. Be
carefulwhendoingso.Thisposesariskofinjury.
4. Use the plastic wall bracket as a template and mark the position of the three drill holes through
the perforated screw holes on the wall.
When drilling or tightening screws, make sure not to damage any cables, wires
or pipes located underneath the surface.
5. Drill the three holes in the wall and insert the dowels.
6. Cut a small hole in the plastic wall bracket‘s rubber seal and feed the electrical wire through
the rubber seal.
Make sure that you do not cut too large a hole in the rubber seal. Otherwise, water
may enter the product housing and cause short-circuiting.
Use an appropriate sealing agent (such as silicone) to seal up the hole if it is too
large.
7. Use the three long screws to fasten the plastic wall bracket to the wall.
8. Connect the electrical wire to the terminal block inside the base:
- Brown cable = L
- Blue cable = N
- Green/yellow cable = PE/ground wire, grounding symbol
The ground wire must be connected to the terminal block under all
circumstances.
If the product is serving as a replacement for an existing light and there is
no ground wire, do not install the product. First install the appropriate supply
leads.
If no ground wire is connected, there will be voltage applied to the metal
product housing in the event of an error. This poses a risk of fatal injury due
to electric shock!
Make sure that the cables are not bare for too long as this may cause short-
circuiting.
Make sure that all screw connections on both sides of the terminal block are
tight.
9. Place the housing on the plastic wall bracket.
The lamp can be installed so that the plastic diffusor points either vertically up or down
(applies to item no. 55 95 52 only).
Make sure that the cables are not squeezed, bent or damaged in any other way.
Do not exert any force when installing the product.
10. Make sure that the rubber rings are mounted to both short screws. Fasten the housing to the
plastic wall bracket using both short screws.
11. Item no. 55 95 52: Unscrew the plastic diffusor from the housing.
Item no. 55 95 53: Unscrew both plastic diffusors from the housing.
12. Item no. 55 95 52: Insert a suitable light bulb (not included) into the base. Observe the
information contained under technical data.
Item no. 55 95 53: Insert a suitable light bulb (not included) into both bases. Observe the
information contained under technical data.
If necessary, use the suction cup to insert the light bulb.
13. Item no. 55 95 52: Screw the plastic diffusor onto the housing.
Item no. 55 95 53: Screw both plastic diffusors onto the housing.
14. Turnonpowertothecircuitandchecktoseeiftheproductworks.
If the light bulb does not light up, cut the power supply immediately (remove
the fuse or turn off the circuit breaker).
Then check the connection to the power circuit.
In case of doubt, contact a professional (i.e. an electrician).
7. Replacing the light bulb
Before replacing the light bulb, let the product cool down sufciently. If the
light bulb is not cooled down sufciently and you touch it, there is a risk of
burning!
1. Make sure the product is turned off.
2. Unscrew the plastic diffusor from the housing.
3. Remove the defective light bulb and insert a new one.
4. Screw the plastic diffusor onto the housing.
If necessary, use the suction cup to replace the light bulb.
8. Maintenance and cleaning
Never use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions, as such would
damage the housing (discolorations).
Never point a water jet, for example such of high-pressure cleaning equipment,
at the lamp, as that could damage the seals!
• Besides occasional cleaning, the device is maintenance-free.
• Turnofftheproductandletitcooldownsufcientlybeforecleaning.
• Use a clean, soft and dry cloth to clean the housing. For more stubborn dirt, slightly moisten
the cloth with a little lukewarm water.
• Do not apply too much pressure to the housing or plastic diffusor to prevent scratching.
9. Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the household
waste.
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant statutory
regulations.
