The following safety instructions help not only to protect the product but also, and in
particular, to prevent damages to property and personal injury. Read the safety
instructions thoroughly!
Warning, danger to life!
Observe, when installing the ceiling mounted light fixture and the necessary
halogen transformer, all the safety instructions which are familiar to a profes-
sional only. The installation must be effected by a specialised electrician only.
In case of improper installation, in particular at the mains voltage (for the
connection of the halogen transformer), there is danger of a life-threatening
electric shock!
In the case of any damages which are caused due to the failure to observe these
operating instructions, the guarantee will expire. We do not assume liability for
resulting damages!
Nor do we assume liability for damage to property or personal injury, caused by
improper use or the failure to observe the safety instructions. The guarantee will
expire in any such case!
• The unauthorized conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible because of safety
and approval reasons (CE).
• The product is not a toy and should be kept out of reach of children! Children cannot assess the
dangers involved when dealing with electric devices.
• The product must be mounted out of reach of children. The surface of illuminants and that of the
ceiling mounted light fixture become very hot during service; there is a high risk of burns!
• Do not leave packaging material unattended. It may become a dangerous toy for children!
• Handle the product with care, it has sharp edges.
• Make sure that all electrical connections and connection cables correspond to the regulations and
to their operating instructions.
• Make sure when installing the ceiling mounted light fixture that the connecting cable is not bent,
jammed or damaged by sharp edges. Install the connecting cable in such a way that it does not touch
the illuminant (danger of fire).
• The ceiling mounted light fixture corresponds to safety class III and is suitable to
be used with an appropriate 12V illuminant, which is put into service via a halogen
transformer. Never modify the ceiling mounted light fixture; never use a 230V
illuminant! Danger to life through an electric shock!
• Only use illuminants with safety glass or low pressure technics. An exploding
illuminant results in glass splinters, risk or injury!

• By power supply via a 12V system, high currents are necessary (e.g.: 50W illuminant, voltage 12V,
current approximately 4A). Use appropriate connecting cables and corresponding plug connectors
only; the latter must be suitable for usage with halogen illuminants. All screw connections must be
firmly screwed.
• The ceiling mounted light fixture is featured with a special lamp socket and temperature-resistant
connecting cables. During operation, the lamp socket and parts of the connecting cables heat up.
Never use other or inappropriate lamp sockets/connecting cables.
• Only use the components included in the delivery for mounting and connecting the ceiling mounted
light fixture.
• Never exceed the max. lamp output (see ”technical data”). Otherwise, this can cause an overheating
and hence, a fire!
• Install the ceiling mounted light fixture in such a way to allow for a sufficient safety distance to
flammable surfaces/materials (wood, carpets, electrical cables, insulation material etc.). The
distance must be 10cm min. to all sides. Never cover the product or the illuminant.
Before mounting the product in flammable surfaces (e.g. wooden ceilings) ask the manufacturer/
seller if the installation and the operation of the ceiling mounted light fixture is possible under these
conditions. If it is not possible, the ceiling mounted light fixture must not be installed.
The ceiling mounted light fixture can be mounted in or on materials whose
flammability properties are unknown, if it is guaranteed, through appropriate
measures, that the temperature on the mounting surfaces does not exceed 90°C
in normal operation and 115°C in case of a fault.
No insulation material must be in the direct proximity of the ceiling mounted light fixture/illuminant
and transformer, as this causes heat to accumulate. There is a danger of fire!
Remove existing insulation material, keep a distance of 10cm min to the ceiling mounted light
fixture/illuminant and transformer.
• A distance of 20cm must be kept between transformer and ceiling mounted light fixture/illuminant.
Danger of transformer overheating, danger of fire!
• The radiant heat of the illuminant (and the hot ceiling mounted light fixture) can, during operation,
have a bearing on the material and the color of the surfaces. It is recommended, at any rate, to check
the behavior of surfaces at the place of installation before the final installation.
• A minimum clearance of 50cm must be kept between the outlet of the
light beam (halogen illuminant) and the illuminated areas. Otherwise,
there is fire danger! Never direct the light beam on easily flammable
objects (e.g. curtains).
• The total capacity (W, Watt) of the illuminant connected to the transformer must not exceed the max.
capacity of the transformer. Danger of overload; fire danger!
On the other hand, the transformer must work to min. 80% of its full capacity, as otherwise, the
higher output voltage of the transformer reduces significantly the life span of the illuminant.
• In case of longer cables, a feed cable with a bigger diameter must be used (danger of fire).
The length of the cable between transformer and illuminant must not exceed 2 meters.
• For the voltage/current supply of the halogen illuminants, use licensed transformers (”halogen
transformer”) only.
Observe their operating instructions as to where and how they should be installed (e.g. installation
in an inserted ceiling/furniture etc.).
Before the connection and the installation of a halogen transformer, switch off the power supply and
the circuit breaker from the mains supply. Turn off the corresponding circuit breakers and unscrew
the fuse. Place a warning notice at the circuit breaker and at the fuse holder (protection against an
unintentional activation of the mains voltage).
Check if the place of installation is voltage free using an appropriate measuring device.
Working at the mains voltage and on parts under voltage must be carried out by
qualified, authorized personnel. Amateurish work carried out at the mains
voltage endangers not only your life but also the life of others!
• If you wish to use a dimmer for the halogen transformer, then make sure that it is suitable for the
corresponding transformer. For electronic halogen transformers, use a so-called forward phase
dimmer.
Always install the dimmer in the primary circuit (mains voltage, e.g. 230V ~/50Hz)), never on the
secondary side (12V).
• In commercial and industrial facilities the regulations for the prevention of accidents as laid down
by the professional trade association for electrical equipment and devices need to be observed.
• When installing the product and operating tools observe the corresponding operating and safety
instructions.

Installation
Please take note of all the safety instructions in these operating instructions.
• The place of installation must be firm and stable. The thickness of the material at the place of
installation must be 10 to 15mm, otherwise, the ceiling mounted light fixture is not sufficiently
stable.
• Plan the assembly of the ceiling mounted light fixture, for example, in the ceiling of the room.
• First install the halogen transformer following its operating instructions.
• Mark the borehole (necessary diameter see ”technical data”) and drill the hole with an appropriate
drill (e.g. drill with center drill).
Tip:
For safety purposes, check, before the installation of the ceiling mounted light fixture in
a ceiling panel, the correct diameter of the hole on an oddment. It is very frustrating to
drill a hole bigger than the one needed in an expensive and high quality ceiling panel.
Drill the hole from the visible side so that the edges of the hole do not break out. To
improve the precision, you can pre-bore a 3mm hole to give the central drill of the drill
a good guide conduct.
• Install the ceiling panel and guide the low voltage connecting cable of the transformer through the
borehole.
• Place an appropriate illuminant in the ceiling mounted light fixture. Make sure that the pins of the
illuminant are firmly seated in the socket.
Check the type and the max. capacity of the used illuminant, see “technical data”.
Never use an illuminant with a higher capacity, danger of fire!
• Connect the connecting cable of the ceiling mounted light fixture with the low voltage connecting
cable of the transformer. If necessary, use a corresponding adapter.
• Place the ceiling mounted light fixture in the hole. Consult the figure in this operating manual .
Changing the illuminant
Illuminants and ceiling mounted light fixtures become very hot during operation,
danger of burns!
Leave a defective illuminant and also the light fixture cool down before replacing
the illuminant.
The cooling-down process can take 15 minutes or longer. Before touching the
illuminant or the ceiling mounted light fixture, check the temperature carefully.
Risk of burns!
A defective illuminant diminishes the electrical loading of the halogen transformer. This
causes a higher output voltage, hence decreasing the life span of the other illuminants.
If possible, immediately replace a defective illuminant with a new one!
• Switch off the light first, if it is still on.
• According to the model of the ceiling mounted light fixture, you might have to remove a retaining
ring or a retaining spring (see figure).
Caution, attention! While disengaged, the retaining ring can pop out!
• Carefully remove the illuminant and disconnect it from the connecting cable.
• Replace the defective illuminant with a new one.
Check the type and the max. capacity of the used illuminant, see “technical data”.
Never use an illuminant with a higher capacity, danger of fire!
• If you are using a special illuminant with low pressure technics (without safety glass), then never
touch the bulb in the reflector or the reflector itself with naked hands.
Old standard illuminants without safety glass (without low pressure technics) must not
be used. An exploding illuminant results in dangerous glass splinters!
• Reinsert the ceiling mounted light fixture(see figure).
Handling, operation
Put the product into operation only if it works properly. In case of fault, switch off the power supply of
the illuminant immediately. Have an electrician check the product first before putting it into operation
again.
This is the case if:
• visible damages are observed
• the product does not function properly
• it smokes or produces audible crackles.
• an overheating is determined (e.g. discoloration or similar)
Working at the mains voltage and on parts under voltage must be carried out by
qualified, authorized personnel.
Disposal
At the end of its serviceable life, dispose of the product according to the relevant statutory
requirements.
