OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
3-way assembly loudspeakers
Order No. 37 34 74
This product complies with all current National and European requirements.
Intended use
The car loudspeakers are intended to be used to convert the electric output signals from car
radios or car amplifiers into audible sound waves and are only approved for connection to the
loudspeaker outputs of such devices.
They may only be used in motor vehicles or closed rooms, i.e. not outdoors. Do not expose to
moisture, for example in bathrooms or similar spaces.
Any other use than that described above may cause damage to the car loudspeakers and
involves other risks, such as short-circuits, fire, etc.
No part of the product may be modified or rebuilt.
Always observe the safety instructions.
Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions! We do not assume liability for any resulting damage.
Nor do we assume liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by
improper use or failure to observe the safety instructions. In such cases the
warranty will be null and void.
This symbol indicates important information in the instructions. Prior to
starting up the product, read the operating instructions entirely; they contain
important information on the correct operation.
• For safety reasons, any unauthorised conversion and/or modification to the product is not per-
mitted.
• When installing and using the car loudspeakers, follow the relevant traffic regulations.
• Do not expose the car loudspeakers to drips or spray water, strong vibrations or high
mechanical stress.
• Never pour liquids over electrical devices and do not place any objects containing liquids on
them.
• When connecting the car loudspeakers, the safety instructions for any equipment to which they
are connected must also be followed.
• Do not place any magnetic storage media such as floppy disks or video cassettes close to the
car loudspeakers, as the loudspeakers’ magnetic field may corrupt data stored on such
storage media.
• Do not listen to excessively loud music for long periods of time. This may damage your
hearing.
• Excessive volume inside a car may result in you not hearing acoustic warning signals. This
constitutes a danger to yourself and to other road users. Therefore, ensure the volume is at a
suitable level.
• Lack of attention in traffic can lead to serious accidents. Therefore, only use the hi-fi system
when the traffic situation permits and you will not be unduly distracted by operating the system.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. It may become a dangerous
plaything for children.
• If in doubt about how to connect the device correctly, or should any questions arise that are
not answered in these operating instructions, please contact our technical advisory service or
another specialist.
• Please, also observe the additional safety instructions in each individual section of these
instructions.
Mechanical Installation
Modifications to the vehicle which are made necessary through the installation
of the car loudspeakers or other components must always be carried out in
such a manner that neither the traffic safety nor the designed stability of the car
is impaired. With many vehicles, the MOT will be void, if you cut out a section
of the sheet metal.
If you are in doubt, when selecting a place for installation, consult your car
dealer.
Make sure before drilling the attachment holes that no electric cables, brake
lines, the fuel tank or similar will be damaged.
When using tools to install your car’s hi-fi components, follow the manufacturer’s
safety instructions.
When installing the car loudspeakers or your hi-fi system, take into
consideration the risks that can arise from devices being torn away in the case
of an accident. Therefore, you should secure each component in a place where
it will not pose a risk to passengers.
• Look for a suitable position for mounting the loudspeakers. As a rule, this will be the hat shelve
in the vehicle.
• To achieve the best possible stereo effect, the right and left loudspeakers must be mounted
as far as possible away from one another.
• The installation area must be stable enough to enable secure attachment. Where necessary,
strengthen with a wooden board or similar.
• Screw the enclosed threaded rods into the thread on the lower side of the housing.
• Drill matching holes in the mounting area for the threaded rods.
• Drill a hole at a suitable point to allow the cable passage and pull the connecting cable through
the mounting area into the boot.
• Put the threaded rods attached to the loudspeakers through the drilled holes and fasten them
using the enclosed wing nuts. If required, use the enclosed or other suitable washers.
Connection
When connecting the car loudspeakers, make sure that the connection cables
are not pinched or damaged by sharp edges. Use cable nozzles for passage
points.
The loudspeaker cables must not have any earth contact.
Do not lay cables in the triggering area of air bags.
The connection may only be made to suitable loudspeaker outputs on a car
radio or amplifier.
Make sure the impedance and power rating indicated in the technical data com-
plies with the data for the car radio/amplifier connected. Otherwise damage to the
car loudspeakers or the car radio/amplifier can occur.
The device to which the car loudspeakers is to be connected must be switched
off while making the connections.
• Draw the loudspeaker cables to the car radio or car amplifier.
• Connect the loudspeaker cables to the loudspeaker outputs of the car radio/car amplifier:
cable marked with red > positive loudspeaker output
un-marked cable > negative loudspeaker output
Maintenance and Care
Only clean the exterior of the loudspeaker with a soft, dry cloth or brush.
Never use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions since these might damage the
surface of the casing or impair the operation.
Disposal
Dispose of the product in accordance with the applicable legal regulations.
