Step6–CalibratetheSensor(AutoCalibrationMode)

TheS100hasanAutoCalibraonmodethatrunsfor24hours.Autocalibraonsets

themoisturethresholdbasedonyoursoiltype.Thisisimportantfornewinstallaons

andusefulforrecalibrangabiSensor.

1. HeavilysaturatethesoilaroundthebiSensorwithwater.Ifthe

soilisnotproperly

saturated,theautocalibraonwillfail.

2. Aerthewaterhassoakedintothesoil,brieﬂypresstheRead/Setbuononthe

S100totakethecurrentmoisturereading.Writedownthecurrentdate,me,

andmoisturereadingtobeusedas

areferencepoint.

2. Pressandholdthe+,–,andBypassbuonssimultaneouslyfor3seconds.The

displaywillﬂashbetweenCAL,24H,andthemoisturereading.Thedisplaywill

countdown,onthehour,unlthecalibraoniscomplete.

Wateringisstopped

whiletheS100isinAutoCalibraonmode.DonotallowthebiSensortoreceive

anywaterduringcalibraon.Thisprocesswillfailorprovidefalsefeedbackifit

does.

NotesontheAutoCalibrationProcess



ToexittheAutoCalibraonmode,pressandholdtheRead/Setbuonfor3

seconds.

 Ifthecalibraonsucceeds,themoisturethresholdwillbeautomacallyset,and

thesystemwillallowwateringwhensoilmoisturedropsbelowthisthreshold.

 Ifanerroroccursduringautocalibraon,thescreenwillﬂashEr4indicangthat

calibraonfailed.TheEr4codeisfollowedbyanothercodewithanumberthat

correspondstothereasonforfailure.SeetheTroubleshoongseconfor

informaononthevariouserror

messages.

 Iftheautocalibraonfails,theS100willwaterbasedonthepreviouslyset

threshold.

 IfthebiSensorreceiveswaterduringthe24hourcalibraonperiod,orthesoil

wasnottotallysaturated,thecalibraonwilleitherfailenrelyorsetanincorrect

thresholdforyourlawn.Ifthishappens,youwillneedtore‐saturatethesoiland

restarttheautocalibra

on.

calibraonprocessdescribedonthenextpage.
