Restore System State
Use the procedure described in this section if you wish to restore System State to the server without restoring the rest of the fileonly target
system as it was on the server. source This procedure restores System files including those in the C:\Windows folder. Perform the steps in this
section if you are performing full disaster recovery and wish to keep the not target server's file system intact. Since this procedure does not
restore file systems, following these steps will not restore replicated file systems or administration tools if the server was a domainsource
controller. This means group policy objects and log on scripts will not be available on the server unless they are already on that server or ontarget
another server on the network. If you wish to restore file systems, use the steps described in the section Restoring File System and
, or restore file systems manually from another server on the network.System State
To restore System State only,
Log in to the Barracuda Backup web interface, and go to .RESTORE > Restore Browser
Expand the Windows Server that represents the server, and select :source System State
Click ; a list of revisions displays.View all revisions up to: <date>
Click next to the revision you wish to restore:Restore
The Restore window displays.
If the server is set up with the same IP address as the server you are restoring, select :target source Original Location
The restore job completion is dependent upon the size of the original server.
Important
Restoring System State from a source domain controller restores AD to its original state on that server; check with your system
administrator before restoring a domain controller from an old revision backup.
Authoritative Restore
An authoritative restore returns the server to the state it was in at the time of the backup, overwriting all changes madesource
since that backup was performed. Changes made subsequent to that backup will be lost. For more information on authoritative
restore, refer to the Microsoft TechNet article Active Directory Backup and Restore.
