Configuring Profiles
A NOOK Profile tailors content and shopping experiences on your NOOK for an individual user. Your NOOK
supports up to six NOOK profiles, enabling dierent people to use your NOOK in dierent ways.
All the purchases made on your NOOK through any profile are processed through the NOOK or BN.com account
to which your NOOK is registered.
Types of Profiles
Your NOOK supports three types of NOOK Profiles:
• Primary Profile: This is the profile created by default when you register your NOOK. This profile can view all
the content on the device an. It can also create and edit profiles for other users and manage those profiles’ access
to content. All pur-chases made on the NOOK are processed using the payment method associated with this profile.
• Adult Profile: An adult profile can purchase any type of content. An adult profile can also control which content is
visible to itself and which content is visible to any child profile. It can also set parental controls for child profiles.
It cannot control which content is visible to the primary profile.
• Child Profile: By default, a child profile can only view and purchase content authorized by the primary profile
or through pa-rental controls configured by an adult profile. A child profile does not have the ability to create or
edit other profiles. It cannot override parental controls.
Setting Up an Adult Profile
Your NOOK will recognize any new profiles you create, along with any profiles you created in your Barnes & Noble
or NOOK account on a NOOK HD, NOOK HD+, or other NOOK Device.
To set up an adult profile, do this:
1. On the main Settings screen, tap the Profile menu choice or tap the upper left corner in the status bar
Your NOOK displays the Profile settings screen.
2. Tap the plus sign (+) in the upper right corner of the screen.
Your NOOK displays a form for creating a new profile.
3. Type a first name for the account.
4. If you want to automatically add all the NOOK content in the primary profiles account to this profile,
tap the checkbox labeled
Add all NOOK shop content in this account to this new profiles library.
5. Tap
NEXT in the upper right corner of the screen.
Your NOOK creates the profile.
NOTE: If you chose not to automatically add all the NOOK content in the primary profile’s account
to this profiles library, you will need to add content to the library, item by item. See the instructions
below on managing content.
Setting up a Child Profile
To set up a child profile, do this:
1. On the main Settings screen, tap the
Profile menu choice.
