NOTE: Some publishers define recommended settings for their eBooks; other publishers do not. If the Pub-
lisher Settings toggle switch is grayed out, the publisher of the eBook you are reading has not defined
recommended settings.
All other page controls in the dialog box appear grayed out.
To change the appearance of the book, do this:
1. Tap the center of the page to make the Reading Tools appear.
2. Tap the text icon.
Your NOOK opens a window displaying font and spacing controls.
3. Tap the controls to select the font, font size, line spacing, and margins you want.
Adjusting the Brightness of the Screen
It’s easy to adjust the brightness of the screen while you’re reading a book. Just do this:
1. Tap the center of the page to make the Reading Tools appear.
The Reading Tools appear at the bottom of the page.
2. Tap the brightness icon on the right end of the toolbar.
Your NOOK displays a brightness control that features a slider that moves horizontally across the page.
3. Use the slider to adjust the brightness of the screen.
Move the slider to the left to dim the screen. Move the slider to the right to brighten the screen.
4. When you have adjusted the brightness to your liking, tap the center of the page again to make the bright-
ness controls and the Reading Tools disappear.
Recommendations and Links at the End of the Book
At the end of many books, you’ll find a special page oering:
• Links for rating or recommending the book you just finished.
• A list of other books by the same author.
• A list of books liked by other readers who read the book you just finished.
To find this special page, open the Reading Tools and look at the slider. If you see a small blue flag to the right of the
slider, the book includes this special page. Tap on the blue flag to open the page of recommendations and links.
