4 Enter the email address and password for your Barnes & Noble.com account, and tap Submit.

NOOK’s controls and
features. Tap Take the tour.
To register your
NOOK Wi-Fi:
1 When you first power on your
NOOK, it displays pages and menus for registration.
2 Tap Tap here to get started.
3 (NOOK Wi-Fi) If you are not already connected to a Wi-Fi hotspot in a Barnes & Noble
Bookstore or an AT&T hotspot in the United States, your NOOK Wi-Fi prompts you to
connect to a local Wi-Fi hotspot. Tap Go to Wi-Fi Settings.
4 Tap Wi-Fi hotspot and connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot. Procedures for connecting to a detected
hotspot and for defining and connecting to a hotspot are in “Configuring and Using Wi-Fi
Hotspots” on page 60.
5 After connecting to a Wi-Fi hotspot, tap the Back button twice to return to the welcome pages.
6 Tap Register with your existing account.
7 Enter the email address and password for your Barnes & Noble.com account, and tap Submit.
8 Tap OK to close the message about successful registration.
9 You are given the chance to take a quick tour, to learn about your
NOOK’s controls and
features. Tap Take the tour.
Initial Library Synchronization and Downloads
Immediately after registration, your NOOK downloads a local copy of the catalog from your online
digital library. It uses this catalog copy when searching your library. Your
NOOK keeps the local
catalog in sync with the online catalog. For more information about synchronization, see “Library
Synchronization” on page 88.
Your
NOOK does not assume that you want to download all of the content in your library to
your
NOOK. It downloads content when you ask it to, or when you ask to read it. Your NOOK
does automatically download the five most recently purchased eBooks that were purchased from
BN.com within the 30 days prior to registering your NOOK.
Later, when you make purchases from the Barnes & Noble eBookstore, what you buy is
downloaded automatically to your
NOOK.
