8.1.2 Backup / restore procedures
The HYDRA operating system and file structure is specially developed to provide a stable system with long life-
time. The CD-ROM is read only and therefore the operating system can not be miss-configured. The varying files
are written on a flash disk. The access to the files on the flash disk is explained in the H
YDRA user’s manual.
Backup procedure
It is recommended to make a backup copy of the flash disk as often as bigger changes to layout and configura-
tion are made. With one of the three access methods described above this can be achieved very easily.
Restore procedures
If configuration data needs to be restored, data of the backup can be rewritten on the flash disk and the H
YDRA is
operable as of the state of the backup.
Don’t restore configuration files that were saved while a previous iStudio release was
running.
The configuration files are updated during the update from one release to a newer one.
Therefore former backups are not necessarily compatible.
