RIDING IN COLDWEATHER
Pre-rideInspection
Checkthatthethrottleandall controlleversmovefreely. Makesurethatthefootrests
arefree of iceorsnow.
MovetheATVforward andbackwardtocheckthatthewheelsrollfreely. Ifyou cannot
movetheATV,the tiresmaybefrozen tothe ground,orthe brakesmaybefrozen to the
wheels. Ifthetiresarefrozen to the ground,pourwarmwateraroundthemto meltthe
ice. If the brakesarefrozen, bringtheATVtoa warmerareato thawoutthe brakes.
Aftertheenginehaswarmedup,checkthebrakes. Dothisinspectionon levelground
anddo notexceedthe walkingspeed. Besureto checkthe operationof bothfront and
rearbrakes. Ifthebrakesdo notworkadequately,stopridingtheATV.

Usingenginepowertofree upfrozen wheelscoulddamageyourATV.
Severedamagetothedrivetrainmayoccurifyouuseenginepowertofree
frozenwheels.
Beforeriding,manuallymovetheATVforward andbackwardto make
certainthatallwheelsrollfreely.
BringtheATVtoa warmerareatoallowthebrakesto thawout. Afterthe brakesthaw,
drythembyapplyingthemseveraltimesbeforeriding. If the brakesdonotregainfull
stoppingpower,askyourauthorizedservicecenterto checkthembeforeyoucontinue
ridingyourATV.
WaterthatentersthebrakesmayfreezeafteryouparkyourATV. Thefrozen watercan
preventwheelsfrom turningorthe brakesfrom working.Afterridingthroughwater,
mud,snowor slush,itisimportanttodrythebrakesbeforeparkingtheATV. Todrythe
brakes,applythemseveraltimeswhileridingslowly. Beforeyournextride,besureto
do a Pre-rideinspectionasdescribedearlierinthissection.
OperatingtheATVwithoutaproperlyfunctioning brakesystemcouldbe
hazardous.
Wetorfrozen brakeswill increasestoppingdistance.Thiswill
increaseyourchanceof havinganaccident.
Besureto inspectthebrakesbeforeridingthevehiclein coldweather
as describedabove.
