TURNING
ToturntheATV,the ridermustusethe propertechnique.Becausethisvehicle
hasa solidrearaxle,bothrearwheelsalwaysturnatthesamespeed.This
meansthatif therearwheelsaregettingequaltraction,thevehiclewill tend
tomovestraightahead. This is becausethe rearwheelswill travelthe same
distance.Forthevehicleto turn,theoutsiderearwheelmusttravela longer
distancethatthe insiderearwheel. Tomakethishappen,theridermust
createlesstractionfor theinsidewheel,allowingitto skid. Thisallowsit to
travela shorterdistancethantheoutsidewheel. Thishappenseventhough
bothwheelsarestillturningatthe samespeed.

FORHIGHERSPEEDSOR SHARPERTURNS
Usethesametechniquethatyouusewhenyoumoveyour bodyweight
farther towardthe insideof theturn to maintainyour balance.Naturalturning
forces (whichcan pushthevehicleto theoutsideoftheturn)increaseasthe
speedortheturnsharpnessincreases.Thismeansyoumustleanyourbody
farther intothe turnasyou gofaster or turnmoresharply. Thispreventsthe
vehiclefrom tippingoverto theoutsideof theturn. IfyourATVstartstotip
whileturning,leanyourbodyfarther intothe turnwhilegraduallyreducingthe
throttleandmakingthe turnwider,ifpossible.
