BREAK-IN
Thefirst monthis themostimportant in the life ofyourvehicle. Proper
operationduringthisbreak-inperiodwillbehelpfulfor assuringmaximum
lifeandperformanceof yournewvehicle. Thefollowing guidelinesexplain
properbreak-inprocedures.
MaximumThrottleOpening Recommendation
Duringthe first 10hoursof operation,youshouldalwaysuselessthan1/2
throttleopening.
Varythe EngineRotatingSpeed
Varythe enginerotatingspeedduringthebreak-inperiod. Thisallowsthe
partsto"load" andthen"unload" (allowingthepartstocool). Althoughitis
essentialtoplacesomestressontheenginecomponentsduringbreak-in,
youmustbe carefulnotto loadtheenginetoomuch.
AvoidConstantLowRotatingSpeed
Operatingtheengineat constantlowrotatingspeed(lightload)can cause
partstoglazeandnotsealproperly.Allowtheenginetoacceleratefreely
withoutexceedingthemaximumthrottlelimit.
AllowtheEngineOilto CirculateBeforeRiding
Allowa few minutesofidlingtimeafterwarmor coldenginestarting.This
allowsthelubricatingoiltoreachall criticalenginecomponents.
ObserveYourInitialandMostCriticalService
Theinitialservice(break-inmaintenance)isthemostimportantservicethat
yourvehiclewill receive.Observinga properbreak-inoperation,will help
enginecomponentssealproperly.Maintenancerequiredas partofthe initial
serviceincludesproperadjustments,tighteningofall bolts& nuts,and
replacementofdirty oil. Timelyperformanceof thisservicewill helpyouget
thebestservicelifeandperformanceof theengine.
