ORION® Integral Endpoint for American® RPM Series Rotary Gas Meters PRODUCT UNPACKING AND INSPECTION NOTE: If damage to the shipping container is evident upon receipt, request the carrier to be present when the product is unpacked. Carefully open the shipping package, follow any instructions that may be marked on the exterior. Remove all cushioning material surrounding the product and carefully lift the product from the package.

Badger Meter handheld programmer / data collector Allen wrench All ORION units are shipped from the factory unprogrammed. Using the handheld programmer, the installer must program the ORION remote endpoint to a specific endpoint.
ORION® Integral Endpoint for American® RPM Series Rotary Gas Meters ORION INTEGRAL ENDPOINT ON AN AMERICAN METER RPM SERIES ROTARY GAS METER EQUIPPED WITH THE AMERICAN AMR ADAPTER American Rotary Gas Meter ORION Integral Endpoint ORION integral residential endpoints easily and quickly install on American gas meters. When installed on rotary meters, the ORION integral endpoint does not use a local index assembly.
Installation Data ORION INSTALLATION KIT FOR AN AMERICAN ROTARY GAS METER Rotary Meter Gasket 3 Nuts 1/4-20 Rear Gasket Endpoint 3 Screws 1/4-20 x 3/8" Front Gasket 4 Screws 8 -16 x 1/2" Cover 4 Tamper Plugs IMPORTANT! Installation of the ORION integral endpoint onto an American rotary gas meter requires an AMR adapter plate which is available from American Meter. Use the American rotary meter installation instructions for dismantling the top portion of the meter.
ORION® Integral Endpoint for American® RPM Series Rotary Gas Meters REAR ENDPOINT GASKET ATTACHMENT The gasket should be attached to the endpoint at the factory. If the gasket is not attached, follow these steps. 1. Place the rear gasket on the back of the endpoint. Place the protruding two tines into the two small holes, located between the two large holes, on each side of the endpoint. Rear Gasket Tines 2. Place the three (3) ¼-20 X 3/8 screws through the endpoint and rear gasket, from the front.
Installation Data 2. Place a nut on each screw on the bottom of the adapter plate. Tighten the screws into the nuts with a Phillips screwdriver. Phillips Screwdriver Bottom of Adapter Plate Nut on each Screw 3. Place the gas meter adapter plate, with endpoint assembly attached, on the meter with the three (3) 1/4 x 20 3/8 screws. Be sure the endpoint drive shaft mates with the meter drive pawl. Below is a cut-away view of the endpoint showing the drive shaft and drive pawl. Endpoint Drive Shaft 4.
ORION® Integral Endpoint for American® RPM Series Rotary Gas Meters PLACE THE FRONT GASKET ON THE ENDPOINT Place the gasket so that its two holes go over the two protruding tines. Be sure the notched end goes around the guide pin on the side of the endpoint. Holes Over Tines Notched End Around Guide Pin Be certain that the stepped edge is toward the endpoint boot and seated between the endpoint sealing face and the alignment tabs.
Installation Data PROGRAM THE ENDPOINT The handheld programmer/data collector system is used to process and display screens. Trimble Ranger and IR Read Head and Cable Please reference the Programming Guide for ORION gas endpoints and the manual for the handheld system, ORI-IOM-52 Trimble Ranger Installation and Operation Manual. Programming Procedure To program the endpoint, align the IR port of the handheld optic read head with the endpoint IR port.
ORION® Integral Endpoint for American® RPM Series Rotary Gas Meters INSERT TAMPER PLUGS For security purposes, insert the four (4) red tamper plugs (supplied) in the screw holes and push them in. Tamper Plugs INSTALLATION COMPLETE The ORION integral endpoint is now installed on the American residential rotary gas meter.
