Residential meter index with consumption reading of 4 digits
Large meter index with consumption reading of 5 digits
Large meter index with consumption reading of 6 digits
Step 4: Determine Resolution of the Right-Most Digit in the Consumption Reading
Indexes using dials have each dial marked in tenths. In many residential and larger meters, the right-most dial has 1000 cubic
feet per revolution, so the meter reader will read to the nearest 100 cubic feet, or 1/10th of the dial. Indexes using an
odometer display will print the resolution of the right-most digit on the index.
