Spring clean-up check list

anything else that has blown over from the neighbor ’s yard

Trim & Prune; give room for new growth, shape your

plantings to your will, and remove the ugly (or dead) bits

from the base

Maintain edges, nothing satisfies like a clean defined

garden edge. And great way to keep score as you work your

way around the yard

Revitalize the soil; breaking up the packed and dry clumps

allows the soil to breathe and drain more easily. Add the

mineral elements, nitrogen and sand as your garden center

recommends. In areas of too much sun or dry conditions I

use SAP crystals added to the soil to maintain moisture

Divide perennials – greatest way to insure the health of

what you have already planted. Increase your planted

wealth by expanding the planted areas. Share your extras

with friends and neighbors.

Mulch – boring, but keeps the weeds down and increases

moisture level of the soils. Like protecting your soil from

sun burn. Keep mulch a few inches away from the plant

stem to maintain air flow and proper evaporation

Plan + Refresh (new plants); think about mixing heights,

colors and leaf shapes to keep the eyes and mind engaged
