WARNING: DO NOT use the Fyrite

InTech

to sample gas from an oil-based
combustion system without first doing a
smoke test and adjusting your combustion
process as needed. Smoke test results of
greater than 1 indicate improper
combustion, and demonstrate the need for
process adjustment. Only use the Fyrite

InTech

to sample flue gas AFTER the
combustion process is adjusted and the
smoke test indicates a smoke level of 0 or
1.
Oil Derivative (Siegert only) specifies whether or not oil
derivatives were present during the smoke tests (see
page 24).
For incomplete combustion, oil derivatives present in
the sample can be precipitated onto the filter paper,
causing a color change in the smoke spot.
Use the UP () and DOWN () arrow buttons to select
the YES option if oil derivatives were present during the
smoke test. Otherwise select NO and press ENTER.
