The example shown is a plan view of a typical system with a tiller arm
and quadrant. When viewed in elevation, the ram drive arm and rudder
reference unit drag-link must not be more than ±9
º
from horizontal.
Ideally everything should be horizontally aligned, this prevents
excessive stress during operation.
