Introduction
The instructions in this guide assume a general knowledge of computer installation procedures, familiarity
with cabling requirements, and some understanding of USB devices.
NOTE: Notes provide additional information that could be useful.

Ranger 2244 Product Contents
Your Ranger 2244 is packaged with:

An additional AC power adapter may be purchased for the LEX unit in the event that your USB port can not supply
the required 500mA current. Please contact an Icron Sales representative for further details (See Page 13).
Requirements
To complete the installation, you will also require the following items that are not included with the product:
• USB1.1or2.0compatiblecomputer(hostcomputer)withaUSBcompliantoperatingsystem
• USB1.1or2.0compatibledevice
• 2-strandberopticcablewithDuplexLCconnectors(ifusingsurfacecabling)
OR,2-strandberopticcablingwithtwoinformationoutletsandtwo2-strandberopticpatchcords
with Duplex LC connectors (if using premise cabling)
Themaximumlengthofthesinglemodeberopticcable(SMF)supportedbytheRanger2244system,includingpatch
cords is 10 kilometers.
About the Ranger 2244
The Ranger 2244 incorporates Icrons patented ExtremeUSB® technology, enabling users to extend beyond
the standard 5m cable limit for USB peripheral devices. With the Ranger 2244, USB devices can be located up
to 10 kilometers from the computer.
The Ranger 2244 is composed of two individual units; the LEX unit and the REX unit.
