Handheld
Very easy and intuitive to use.
Really good for
questions from
the floor or
passing round a
class but your
arm may tire
if using for
long
periods.
Headworn
A headworn microphone gives the best possible sound
quality. Positioned near to the mouth, sound is
consistent and strong against the
background room noise and they are the
least prone to feedback. However, from
experience, we know that there can be
hygiene issues in a multi-user setting.
Our advice would be, if you’re going
to be using headmics, you either
need to have anti-bactericidal
wipes to hand or budget for
everyone to keep and use their
own headmic.
Collarworn
A collarworn microphone is a good
compromise solution. They are light
& easy to wear with no
hygiene issues. Sound
quality is good
because the
microphone is
relatively near
the mouth but
it may need
moving back
into place from
time to time.
Microphone options:
Although the below systems are supplied as standard with the microphones as shown, alternative styles of microphone are
available and can be supplied for a small extra charge.
Lapel microphone
A lapel microphone (available but not shown here) can be used with a SoundRanger belt pack transmitter. For
school use we do not recommend this option (hence why we do not show it). A lapel microphone can be used on a stage where the loud
speaker faces towards the audience, away from the radio microphone; however in a school classroom setting where a teacher needs to be
able to walk around the room, a tie clip mic rarely gives an acceptable performance.
