HostNameConguration
TheAxisproductcanbeaccessedusingahostnameinsteadofanIPaddress.ThehostnameisusuallythesameastheassignedDNS
name.ThehostnameisconguredunderSystemOptions>Network>TCP/IP>Advanced.
SelectObtainhostnameviaIPv4DHCPtousehostnameprovidedbytheDHCPserverrunningonIPv4.
SelectUsethehostnametosetthehostnamemanually.
SelectEnabledynamicDNSupdatestodynamicallyupdatelocalDNSserverswhenevertheAxisproduct’sIPaddresschanges.

Link-LocalIPv4Address
Link-LocalAddressisenabledbydefaultandassignstheAxisproductanadditionalIPaddresswhichcanbeusedtoaccess
theproductfromotherhostsonthesamesegmentonthelocalnetwork.TheproductcanhaveaLink-LocalIPandastatic
orDHCP-suppliedIPaddressatthesametime.
ThisfunctioncanbedisabledunderSystemOptions>Network>TCP/IP>Advanced.
HTTP
TheHTTPportusedbytheAxisproductcanbechangedunderSystemOptions>Network>TCP/IP>Advanced.Inadditiontothe
defaultsetting,whichis80,anyportintherange1024–65535canbeused.
HTTPS
TheHTTPSportusedbytheAxisproductcanbechangedunderSystemOptions>Network>TCP/IP>Advanced.Inadditionto
thedefaultsetting,whichis443,anyportintherange1024–65535canbeused.

NATtraversal(portmapping)forIPv4
Anetworkrouterallowsdevicesonaprivatenetwork(LAN)toshareasingleconnectiontotheInternet.Thisisdonebyforwarding
networktrafcfromtheprivatenetworktothe“outside”,thatis,theInternet.Securityontheprivatenetwork(LAN)isincreased
sincemostroutersarepre-conguredtostopattemptstoaccesstheprivatenetwork(LAN)fromthepublicnetwork(Internet).
UseNATtraversalwhentheAxisproductislocatedonanintranet(LAN)andyouwishtomakeitavailablefromtheother
(WAN)sideofaNATrouter.WithNATtraversalproperlycongured,allHTTPtrafctoanexternalHTTPportintheNATrouter
isforwardedtotheproduct.
