AudioModes

TheAxisproductsupportsthefollowingaudiomodes:

•Fullduplex–Simultaneoustwo-wayaudioallowingtheAxisproducttotransmitandreceiveaudioatthesametime.

Thereisnoechocancellation;iffeedbackloopsappear,trymovingthemicrophoneorthespeaker.

•Half-duplex–AudiocanbetransmittedtoandfromtheAxisproductbutonlyinonedirectionatatime.Totransmit

audiousingtheLiveViewpage,usetheTalkandListenbuttons,seeAMCAudioControlsonpage15.

•Simplex–NetworkCameraspeakeronly-AudioistransmittedfromaclienttotheAxisproductandcanbeplayedby

aspeakerconnectedtotheproduct.TotransmitaudiousingtheLiveViewpage,theTalkandMicrophoneonbuttons

mustbothbeactive,seeAMCAudioControlsonpage15.

•Simplex–NetworkCameramicrophoneonly-Audiocapturedbytheproductmicrophoneistransmittedfromthe

Axisproducttooneormoreclients.

Tosettheaudiomode,gotoVideo&Audio>AudioSettingsandselectthedesiredmodefromtheAudiomodedrop-downlist.

AnexternalmicrophoneoralinesourcecanbeconnectedtotheAudio-inconnector.ConguretheaudioinputsettingsunderVideo

&Audio>AudioSettings.

SelectExternalMicrophonetouseanexternalmicrophoneorLinetouseaLineindevice,e.g.anaudiomixerformultiple

microphonesoramicrophonewithabuilt-inamplier,asaudiosource.

Selectthe+30dBmicrophoneboostoptiontoamplifythesignaloftheexternalmicrophoneconnectedtotheAxisproduct.

Microphoneboostoptionisusefulwhenamicrophone'svolumeistoolowandyouwanttoincreaseit.Thisoptionisnotavailable

whentheLinesourceisselected

TheMicrophonepoweroptionprovidesDCpowerforanexternalmicrophone.

Microphonepowershouldonlybeusedwithmicrophonesthathavenobattery.Thissettingshouldnotbeenabledwhenusinga

dynamicorbatterypoweredmicrophone.

Touseaprofessionalmicrophonerequiring48Vphantompower,youneedanexternalpowersupplyandabalanced-unbalanced

converter(audiotransformer)inbetween.

UsetheInputgaintocontrolthevolumeoftheaudioinput.Ifthesoundistoolow,chooseahigherdBvalue,toamplifythe

sound.Ifthesoundistoohigh,choosealowerdBvalue.TheLevelbargivesavisualrepresentationoftheaudiosignallevelindB

relativetothefull-scaleinputlevel.

•Green—thesignalisatagoodlevel.

•Yellow—thesignalisbecomingdistorted.

•Red—thesignalisdistorted.

UsetheEncodingoptiontoselectdigitalaudioencodingformat.

•AACrequiresalicenseforbothencodinganddecoding.AACistheleastcomplicatedandmostwidelyusedcodec.If

achievingthebestpossibleaudioqualityisapriority,AACistherecommendedcodectouse.AnAAClicenseisincluded

intheAxisproduct.

•G71 1isanunlicensedstandardcodecthatisusefulwhenintegratingaudiointoaVoIPsystem
