Using SNMP for Remote Monitoring
You may use SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) for
remote monitoring of the AXIS 570/670 MIO. All major functions
applicable to print servers are supported.
General Information
SNMP actually refers to a set of standards for network management,
including a protocol, a database structure specification, and a set of
data objects. The AXIS 570/670 MIO SNMP implementation runs in
the TCP/IP environment.
The actual management is handled by an NMS (Network Management
System) software running on a host on your network. The NMS
software communicates with network devices by the means of
messages, which are references to one or more objects.
A message can be a question or an instruction to a device, or an alarm
triggered by a specific event in a device. Objects are contained in data
bases called MIBs (Management Information Base), where MIB-II is a
standard database.
The AXIS 570/670 MIO supports all relevant parts of MIB-II. It also
includes a private enterprise MIB. For more information see, The AXIS
MIB, on page 122.
