Troubleshooting
Important

Torestorethedatabase,followthesesteps:
1.OpenAXISCameraStationServiceControlbydouble-clickingtheiconinWindowsnoticationarea.SeeAXISCamera
StationServiceControl,onpage64.
2.ClickStoptostoptheservice.
3.Gotothefolderwherethebackuplesarestored.ThebackupfolderisspeciedontheDatabasetabintheServiceControl.
Thebackupfoldercontainstimestampedbackuplesnamedacs_system_<date_time>.fdband
license_system_<date_time>.fdb
4.Copyacs_system_<date_time>.fdbandlicense_system_<date_time>.fdbto
C:\ProgramData\AXISCommunication\AXISCameraStationServer\
5.DeletethelesACS.FDBandLICENSE.FDB.
6.Renameacs_system_<date_time>.fdbtoACS.FDB.
7.Renamelicense_system_<date_time>.fdbtoLICENSE.FDB.
8.GobacktotheServiceControlandclickStarttostarttheservice.

Toavoidproblemswiththedatabase,keepthefollowinginmind:
Databasemaintenance:Rundatabasemaintenancearegularly,forexampleafewtimesperyear.Forinstructions,seeDatabase
Maintenance,onpage66.
Checkfordiskerrors:Diskerrorscancausedatabasecorruption.Useatoolsuchaschkdsk(Checkdisk,alsoknownasErrorchecking)
tocheckfordamagedsectorsontheharddrivewherethedatabaseislocated.Tostartchkdsk,gotoWindowsStartscreen(Windows
8,WindowsServer2012)orStartmenuandtype“chkdsk”inthesearcheld.Runchkdskregularly.
Antivirussoftwareandexternalbackups:Someantivirussoftwarecancorruptthedatabase.Excludethedatabasefromvirusscans
andexternalbackups.Instead,externalbackupscanberunfromtheAXISCameraStationbackupfolder.
Powerfailure:Anunexpectedshutdown,forexampleduetopowerfailure,cancorruptthedatabase.UseaUPS(uninterruptible
powersupply)forcriticalinstallations.
Outofspace:Thedatabasecanbecomecorruptediftheharddriverunsoutofspace.Toavoidthis,installAXISCameraStation
Serveronadedicatedcomputerwithsufcientmemory.Forhardwarerecommendations,seeSystemRecommendations,onpage5.
CorruptedRAMmemory:RunWindowsMemoryDiagnosticregularlytocheckforerrorsintheRAMmemory.
MoveAXISCameraStationInstallation
Tomovethecurrentinstallationtoanothercomputer,followthesesteps:
1.InstallAXISCameraStation(sameversion)onthenewcomputer.
2.OpenAXISCameraStationatthenewlocation.Iflicenseregistrationfails,askAxisCustomerSupporttodeactivatethe
license.UseAXISCameraStationingracemodeuntiltherequesthasbeenprocessed.
3.Attheoldlocation,opentheServiceControlbydouble-clickingtheiconinWindowsnoticationarea.SeeAXIS
