Macintosh (AFP)

3. Choose Macintosh (AFP). Click Start to proceed with the installation.
4. Follow the instructions as they appear on the screen. When finished, click Close.
5. Click Detailed View . The Protocols dialog box appears.
6. Open the Mac (AFP) page and verify the settings.
7. Click OK.
Access Control
In the Macintosh (AFP) environment, you have these options for access control:
• Authentication server, see description below, or
• Passwords, see page 33.
You first configure the StorPoint CD for the method you want to use, see “Authentication Server
Parameters ” on page 31. By default the authentication server is disabled and no password is used.
Consequently, Root and Guest can login and access all the shared volumes.
Authentication Server Access Control
1. From within the Administration Web pages, click
Discs & Drives.
2. Locate the resource you want to protect in the file
tree, and click Access Rights . The Access
Rights dialog box appears.
3. Open the Mac Sharing page.
4. Select the Share as radio button, and enter a share
name in the Share Name field.
5. Specify the name of the user you want to define as
volume owner and the group this owner belongs to.
World includes all other users.
Note:
6. Check the permissions you want the users to have:
• Read - Read files.
• Search - List files and folders.
We recommend that you use the same settings for Read and Search.
The volume owner can only belong to one group.
