SOCKS

SOCKSisanetworkingproxyprotocol.TheAxisproductcanbeconguredtouseaSOCKSservertoreachnetworksontheother

sideofarewallorproxyserver.ThisfunctionalityisusefuliftheAxisproductislocatedonalocalnetworkbehindarewall,and

notications,uploads,alarms,etcneedtobesenttoadestinationoutsidethelocalnetwork(forexampletheInternet).

QoS(QualityofService)guaranteesacertainlevelofaspeciedresourcetoselectedtrafconanetwork.AQoS-awarenetwork

prioritizesnetworktrafcandprovidesagreaternetworkreliabilitybycontrollingtheamountofbandwidthanapplicationmayuse.

TheQoSsettingsareconguredunderSystemOptions>Network>QoS.UsingDSCP(DifferentiatedServicesCodepoint)values,the

Axisproductcanmarkdifferenttypesoftrafc.

SNMP

TheSimpleNetworkManagementProtocol(SNMP)allowsremotemanagementofnetworkdevices.AnSNMPcommunityisthe

groupofdevicesandmanagementstationrunningSNMP.Communitynamesareusedtoidentifygroups.

ToenableandcongureSNMPintheAxisproduct,gototheSystemOptions>Network>SNMPpage.

Dependingonthelevelofsecurityrequired,selecttheversiononSNMPtouse.

TrapsareusedbytheAxisproducttosendmessagestoamanagementsystemonimportanteventsandstatuschanges.CheckEnable

trapsandentertheIPaddresswherethetrapmessageshouldbesentandtheTrapcommunitythatshouldreceivethemessage.

Note

IfHTTPSisenabled,SNMPv1andSNMPv2cshouldbedisabled.

TrapsforSNMPv1/v2areusedbytheAxisproducttosendmessagestoamanagementsystemonimportanteventsandstatus

changes.CheckEnabletrapsandentertheIPaddresswherethetrapmessageshouldbesentandtheTrapcommunitythat

shouldreceivethemessage.
