Fullduplex-Simultaneoustwo-wayaudioallowingtheAxisproducttotransmitandreceiveaudioatthesametime.Thereisno
echocancellation;iffeedbackloopsappear,trymovingthemicrophoneorthespeaker.
Half-duplex-AudiocanbetransmittedtoandfromtheAxisproductbutonlyinonedirectionatatime.Totransmitaudiousingthe
LiveViewpage,usetheTalkandListenbuttons,seeAMCAudioControls,onpage11.
Simplex—speakeronly-AudioistransmittedfromaclienttotheAxisproductandcanbeplayedbyaspeakerconnected
totheproduct.TotransmitaudiousingtheLiveViewpage,theTalkandMicrophonebuttonsmustbothbeactive,seeAMC

SelectMicrophonetouseanexternalmicrophoneorLinetouseaLineindevice,e.g.anaudiomixerformultiplemicrophones
oramicrophonewithabuilt-inamplier,asaudiosource.
TheMicrophonepoweroptionprovidesDCpowerforanexternalmicrophone.Microphonepowershouldonlybeusedwith
microphonesthathavenobattery.Thissettingshouldnotbeenabledwhenusingadynamicorbatterypoweredmicrophone.
Microphonepowerwillnotharmthemicrophone;ifyouareuncertain,tryswitchingitoffandon.Touseaprofessionalmicrophone
requiring48Vphantompower,youneedanexternalpowersupplyandabalanced-unbalancedconverter(audiotransformer)in
between.
UsetheInputgaintocontrolthevolume(dBFullScale)oftheaudioinput.Ifthesoundistoolow,chooseahigherdB,toamplify
thesound.Ifthesoundistoohigh,choosealowerdB.TheLevelbargivesavisualrepresentationoftheaudiosignallevelindB
relativetothefull-scaleinputlevel.
•Green—thesignalisatagoodlevel.
•Yellow—thesignalisbecomingdistorted.
•Red—thesignalisdistorted.
UsetheEncodingoptiontoselectdigitalaudioencodingformat.
•AACrequiresalicenseforbothencodinganddecoding.AACistheleastcomplicatedandmostwidelyusedcodec.If
achievingthebestpossibleaudioqualityisapriority,AACistherecommendedcodectouse.AnAAClicenseisincluded
intheAxisproduct.
•G711isanunlicensedstandardcodecthatisusefulwhenintegratingaudiointoaVoIPsystem
•G726isanunlicensedspeechcodecthatismostcommonlyusedwithinthesecurityindustry.
TheSampleratedenesthenumberoftimespersecondthesoundissampled.Ahighersampleratewillprovidebetteraudio
quality,butalsorequiresagreaterbandwidth.
SettherequiredBitratedependingontheselectedencoding.Ahigherbitratewillgivebetteraudioquality.Alowerbitrate
mayhavelatencyordelay,butwillrequirelessbandwidth.
