AllowingincomingcallsenablestheAXISproducttoacceptcallsfromanydeviceconnectedtothenetwork.Itis
recommendedtodisableincomingcallsforproductsthatareaccessiblefrompublicnetworksortheinternet.
Note
EvenifyouchoosetonotenableSIP,youcanconguretheSIPsettings.ButrememberthatwhenSIPisdisabled,you
cannotmakeorreceivecalls.
SIPSetupAssistant
TheSIPSetupAssistanthelpsyouwiththeSIPconguration.Whenyouhavecompletedallthestepsinthesetupassistant,the
productisreadytoperformbasicVoIPactions,suchasmakingacallwhenthecallbuttonispressed.EachtimeyounishtheSIP
setupassistant,newactionrulesandDTMFruleswillbecreated.
PortSettings
•SIPport–EntertheportusedforSIPsessions.Thesignallingtrafcthroughthisportwillbenon-encrypted.Thedefault
portnumberis5060.
•SIPTLSport–EntertheportusedforSIPSsessionsandTLS-securedSIPsessions.Thesignallingtrafcthroughthisport
willbeencryptedusingTransportLayerSecurity(TLS).Thedefaultportnumberis5061.
NetworkAddressTranslation(NAT)Traversal(portforwarding)
UseNATtraversalwhentheAxisproductisconnectedtothenetworkbehindaNATrouterorrewalldevice.
VoIPservicesrequireclientstobeserversaswell,andmanyVoIPservicescarryIPaddressandportinformationintheapplication
data.Therefore,AxisproductsbehindNetworkAddressTranslation(NAT)devicessuchasnetworkroutersneedtousespecial
protocolsforNATtraversal(portforwarding)sothatcallscanbelinkedtothecorrecthost.
WithoutSIP-specicportforwarding,usersofclientswithinthesameprivatenetworkwouldbeabletotalktoeachotherbut
usersofclientsindifferentnetworkswouldnot.

SessionTraversalUtilitiesforNAT(STUN)
SessionTraversalUtilitiesforNAT(STUN)isaclient-servernetworkprotocolthatenablestheproducttoaskaSTUNserveronthe
InternetforamappedpublicIPaddress.TheSTUNserverresponseincludesthisIPaddressandportsothattheclientcanusethem
initsSIPmessagestootherhostsandclients.
