7. Attach the sleeve to the fibre optic inlet.
Note: Clean the fibre connector before connecting it to the
system.
Optical reflections from a discontinuity such as a
poor connector interface appear on an RF spectrum
analyzer trace as stable variations in the noise floor
amplitude tha
t are periodic with RF frequency. If
the reflection is bad enough, it could impact the
system performance. The most common cause for a
large discrete reflection is a dirty optical connector.
A bit of dust or oil from a finger can easily interfere
with, or block this light.
Note: Perform the cleaning procedure as described in
Appendix C: F/O Cleaning Procedure.
Be sure to use the correct procedure for the given
connector.
When disconnected, cap the SC/APC connector to
keep it clean and prevent scratching the tip of the
ferrule.
