The solution prevents non-buffered or uncontrolled swings in temperature that occur
when the doors of temperature-controlled assets are opened. The temperature
monitoring vial contains a 100% glycol solution. Assembly of these vials is completed
on-site.
The following subsections provide the procedures for preparation and deployment of the
hardware.
4.3.3.1 Environmental Tag Installation Required Materials
The following materials are required for each environmental tag being installed:
• Environmental Tag
• VFC Display Unit
• VHB tape
• A minimum of two zip ties per tag to hold excess cord inside and outside of the
temperature-monitored asset
• Two anchors affixed in and out of asset for zip ties
• Three AAA alkaline batteries to power the Tag
• 39 mL (approximately 1.3 fl. oz.) propylene glycol
• Leather punch (to create hole in silicone lid of vial)
