Thank you for choosing an AVS S-Series car security system. This range of car alarms and immobilisers has been designed to provide a superior level of security for you and your vehicle. Please read this guide carefully and keep it in a safe place for future reference. REMOTE CONTROLS Two remote controls are supplied and are used to control the system functions. The remotes have rolling codes (4 billion) to foil codegrabbing devices. The remotes are also waterproof in normal use conditions.
REMOTE BATTERIES Each remote is fitted with 2 x CR1616 long life Lithium batteries. Replacement batteries are available from avscarsecurity.com, electrical retailers or AVS dealers. REPLACE THE REMOTE BATTERIES IF: 1. The remote range begins to decrease. 2. The remote’s LED flashes when a button is pressed and held. NOTE: Like any electrical device the remotes contain sensitive components that are easily damaged or broken, especially if dropped. They are expensive to replace so please take care of them.
Alarm trigger If a door, bonnet or boot is opened or a sensor is triggered (AVS S5/ S4) while the system is armed the siren will sound and the indicators will flash for 30 seconds. The system will then re-set itself. Door ajar warning If the AVS S5/S4 siren chirps for four seconds on arming a door, bonnet or boot is open. The system will exclude that zone until it is properly closed. Silent arm To silently arm the AVS S5/S4 press the together. and buttons Disarming 1. Press the button. 2.
Auto-immobilisation The system will immobilise the car 40 seconds after the ignition is turned off. The LED light on the dash will light solid to show it is in auto-immobilise mode. The system must be disarmed before the car can be started. Follow the disarming instructions. If you want to arm the alarm from the immobilised state you will need to press the button twice. The first press will disarm and the second press will arm the alarm. Panic/car finder (AVS S5/S4) 1. Ensure the car ignition is off. 2.
Emergency disarm IMPORTANT. PLEASE READ. Emergency disarm allows you to temporarily disarm the alarm if the remotes are lost or broken (or the remote batteries are flat) so you can start the car. This is done using a unique 5-digit PIN code being entered via the ignition key. The unique PIN code for your alarm is recorded on the Emergency Disarm card supplied with this manual. Without it there is no way to disarm the alarm.
Data battery back-up siren • Included with the AVS S5/S4 and can be fitted to the AVS S3 for an additional charge. • Has its own battery and charging system so it will continue to sound if power is cut to it from the car. • Communicates with the alarm module via an independent data line to make it more difficult for a would be thief to disable it. Siren keys The siren is supplied with two keys that fit the switch on the top of the siren. NOTE: The siren key is unique to your alarm.
Digital tilt sensor • Included with the AVS S5 and can be fitted to the AVS S4/S3 for an additional charge (the AVS S3 will also require a data battery back-up siren). • The digital tilt sensor sets itself to the angle you are parked on when you arm the alarm. If the car is tilted in ANY direction from one degree it triggers the alarm. Normal sensors like shock sensors will not protect the wheels so a tilt sensor is an essential upgrade if you have expensive tyres or mags.
Optional features Optional features are dependent on the systems already in your vehicle. Not all features are available on all vehicles. Some features may require additional parts and/or additional installation charges. Features are subject to change. Please check with your AVS installer. Central locking from the remote The alarm will lock/unlock the doors when the alarm is armed/ disarmed.
Auto re-arm and re-lock This feature prevents the accidental disarming of the system. It will re-arm (and if central locking is connected) re-lock the doors if the system is disarmed and a door not opened within 60 seconds. Door lock on ignition The system will lock the doors when the ignition is turned on, and unlock them when the ignition is turned off (if central locking is connected). Timed headlight delay The headlights will come on for 15-seconds to light your path when the alarm is armed by remote.
Courier function Courier function allows the engine to continue running indefinitely while the system is armed. For more information talk with your AVS installer. 1. Leave the key on in the ignition with the car running and exit the vehicle. Make sure the doors, bonnet and boot are shut. 2. Push the button on the remote to arm the alarm as normal. The engine will continue to run. After 3 seconds the LED starts Glass Break Sensor flashing to indicate the alarm is armed. 3.

Will trigger if the car is tilted in any direction from 1 degree. The AVS S5 comes with a digital tilt sensor. Glass break sensor Detects the sound frequency of breaking glass.
