SUMMARY DATA SHEET AVON CBRNF12B FILTER
P/N: 71510-1
SpECIFICATION
Dimensions
Diameter 109mm
Weight 420g
Thread 40 mm to NATO STANAG 4155
FILTER USE
NIOSH is currently drafting advice on the use of CBRN APR lters, however
whenever using these lters, the following principles must be borne in
mind:
• CBRN Air Purifying Respirators are only intended for use in non-IDLH
environments.
• Not to be used in a “hot zone”.
• Permissible for escape from unknown environments in certain
circumstances.
• Air purifying respirators do not protect in the event of oxygen
deciency. Do not use if the oxygen concentration in the atmosphere is
likely to be less than 19.5%.
• A lter change schedule in accordance with OSHA or MSHA
requirements must be implemented following a suitable and sucient
risk assessment carried out by the incident commander.
• Filters and masks must never be used for longer than 8 hours following
exposure to gas/vapor agents, or for longer than 2 hours following
exposure to liquid agents. In some circumstances lter replacement may
be required well in advance of this time depending on the nature and
concentration of contamination.
• Do not re-use lters that have been exposed to contaminants.
• It is normally appropriate to keep at least 2 spare lters in immediate
reserve for each mask for use in the event of an incident.
• NIOSH cautions and limitations must be followed in all cases.
• Follow manufacturer’s instructions contained in each box at all times.
pACKAGING
CBRNF12B is foil packed.
pERFORMANCE
Breathing resistance
400 Pa @ 85 l/min airow (40mmWG) or less.
Environmental
The materials used and the method of construction of the lter canister has
been designed for operation and storage in accordance with NIOSH CBRN
criteria. When stored in its original packaging the lter canister retains its
operational eectiveness and eciency with no degradation to its
performance under the following environmental storage conditions:
Temperature –32°C to 71°C
The lters have been exposed to high and low ambient storage
temperatures without harmful eects.
Humidity range – 0% to 88% RH
The lter has been tested following storage in high humidity environments
and has found to be eective.
Rain
The lter will retain its eectiveness in heavy rainfall conditions and it is not
prone to water ingress.
Salt Breeze
The lter will not deteriorate with exposure to salt breezes for 24 hours.
Sand and Dust
The lter will not deteriorate when exposed to 24 hours of wind driven
sand and dust conditions.
Shelf life
The predicted shelf life of the lter canister (sealed and packaged) is 5
years.
ADDITIONAL OpERATIONAL
CONSIDERATIONS
The external surface of the CBRNF12B is easily decontaminated.
WARNINGS
• This device does not provide oxygen and must not be used in an oxygen decient atmosphere or conned space.
• Must not be used for re ghting or for protection against airborne products of combustion.
• Should only be used as part of a managed respirator program.
• Customer must verify that the lter is suitable for the intended application.
• Respirator lters are not suitable for all gases/vapors. Customer should verify that the lter is suitable for gases/vapors likely to be encountered.
Consult Avon if unsure.
• Once exposed to a suspected contaminant, the lter will usually require replacement, and must be disposed of as contaminated waste. Re-use of exposed
lters is only permitted in certain controlled circumstances and as part of a managed program, consult Avon if unsure.
