Automatic name push
When automatic name push is enabled, the name push operation occurs automatically when a
name is changed in the DSView software.

Appliance serial ports
If the target device for the serial port in the DSView software database has a single
appliance connection, the target device name will be pushed to the appliance. If the tar-
get device for the serial port in the DSView software database has multiple appliance
connections, the target device name will be pushed to the appliance for each appliance
connection (for connection type(s) enabled in the Automatic Name Push Properties
window).
Power devices
The power device name in the DSView software database will be pushed to the appli-
ance.
Power device sockets
If the target device for the power device socket in the DSView software database has a
single appliance connection, the target device name will be pushed to the appliance. If
the target device for the power device socket in the DSView software database has
multiple appliance connections, the target device name will be pushed to each appli-
ance for each appliance connection (for connection type(s) enabled in the Automatic
Name Push Properties window).
Target devices
If the target device in the DSView software database has a single appliance con-
nection, the target device name will be pushed to the appliance. If the target device in
the DSView software database has multiple appliance connections, the target device
name will be pushed to the appliance for each appliance connection (for connection
type(s) enabled in the Automatic Name Push Properties window).
Cascade switches
If the cascade switch in the DSView software database has a single appliance con-
nection, the name will be pulled from the appliance to update the cascade switch name
in the DSView software database. If the cascade switch in the DSView software data-
base has multiple appliance connections to the same appliance (a multiuser cascade
switch), the cascade switch name will be pulled from the appliance connection with the
lowest port number to update the cascade switch in the DSView software database.
(Multiuser cascade switches are treated as separate cascade switches by the appli-
ance.)
To enable or disable automatic name push:
1. Click the System tab.
2. Click Global Properties in the top navigation bar.
3. Click Units - Synchronization in the side navigation bar, then click Auto Name Push.
