ProxyServer

When the Avocent proxyserver isused, D SView software client KVM and ser ialsession

r equestsare sent thr ough the DSView server rather than directlyto the KVM switch or serial

console appliance, w hich preventsthe exposure of the internal addr essof the managed

appliance. You may change the pro xyserver configuration. EVR1500 environmental mon-

itor, D SI5100 IPMI and gener icappliance sessionsare not sent through the D SView server,

even when the pr oxyis enabled.

SSH Server Enables/disables the SSH server and specifies the port it uses.

Trap Des-

tinations

T he DSView server polls KVM switchesor serial console appliance s to determine if they ar e

r esponding. If the managed appliance does not r espond, the D SView server sendsan

SNMP LossOf Comm unication (LCM ) trap or alert to the exter nal SNMP manager. When

the DSView server detectsthat the appliance isonce again communicating, a Regained

Comm unication (RCM) tr ap issent fr om the DSView software ser ver. When a response

change occurs dur ing communication betw een the DSView server and a managed appli-

ance, the D SView softw are writesthe event to the event log and sendsan SNMP trap to the

configured trap destinations. Trap destinationsmay also be specified by clicking on a man-

aged appliance and changing the SNMP appliance settings.

DSView Client

Sessions

Settings for inactivitytime-out, authentication policy, Single Sign-On (SSO) for the session or

restrictions to use specific IP addresses to start the sessions. Also displayed the number of

client sessions currently in use.

DSView M odem

Session

Settings for dial-up sessions, including inactivity time-out, time to wait for a connection and

dial-backnumber.

IP addressof the SMT P (Simple MailTransfer Pr otocol) server that isused by the DSView

software to send emailnotifications.

Unit StatusPoll-

ing

Enables/disables unit status polling for the DSView server, and specifies the delay between

polling cycles and the number of managed appliances that will be concurrently polled.

Spoke Servers Enables you to manage the DSView software spoke servers in your system.

Data Logging Settings for data log file location, archiving and Syslog ser ver.
