38 Netware Connect for ISDN – 4 Configuration
Network Protocol Configuration
Both IPX and TCP/IP connections to the LAN can be made through RNSI. The
link between the client and RNSI is treated as a separate network segment,
and is configured in the RNSI settings under ”General Parameters”.
The following illustration shows a sample configuration with IP addresses.
TCP/IP Configuration: LAN, RNSI and NetWAYS/ISDN
The WAN connection is configured as a separate TCP/IP network.
The “Address Range” for “Dynamic IP Address Assignment” offered in the
RNSI configuration can be used only by clients that request an address un-
der BootP. DHCP requests are not answered by NetWare Connect for ISDN,
but are forwarded to a DHCP server.
Charge Control
NetWare Connect for ISDN offers two ways to control connection charges: re-
call request and COSO (Charge One Site Only).
When the recall request is activated, the client’s ISDN line is charged only for
the initial call to the LAN. All subsequent connections are charged to the
server. This function applies to a given ISDN-Controller, and is quite simple
to configure.
COSO allows the complete connection charges to be assigned to either end
of the connection, the client or the server. This setting applies to the entire
RNSI service, and requires thorough configuration work.
