CAPI Connect Service
30 Netware Connect for ISDN – 4 Configuration
4.1 CAPI Connect Service
The CAPI Connect Service (CCS) is simply loaded on the server, not config-
ured. All settings necessary for CAPI connections, such as multiple subscrib-
er number (MSN) assignments, are performed in the ISDN applications on
the workstations.
Activating CCS on the Server
Whether CCS is loaded is specified in the service settings. Enter the follow-
ing command at the system console:
load nwccon
Then select the following menu command and settings:
...Set Up
Select Remote Access Services
CCS = Yes
If “Yes” appears after “CCS”, then the service is activated when NetWare
Connect for ISDN is started by entering nwcstart. To deactivate the ser-
vice, select “CCS” and press the “Del” key to set it to “No”. To activate a ser-
vice, select it in the list and then press “Enter”.
When CCS is started, the protocols IPX and TCP/IP are bound to the service,
provided they have been correctly installed and configured on the server.
The corresponding message is displayed when CCS is loaded:
CCS: IP bound to <IP address> Port <port number>
CCS: IPX bound to <IPX address>:1 Port <port number>
Both protocols do not necessarily have to be installed in order to activate
CCS. CCS can also be used if bound to one of the two network protocols.
Make sure that the IP port 890 is not being used by any other application,
since CCS listens for requests from NDC clients on this port.
In order for the workstations to use CCS, they must have Network Distributed
CAPI (NDC) installed and loaded.
