2 Prerequisites and Handling
2.1.2 GSM Operation
To operate the AVM Mobile ISDN-Controller M2 over
GSM, you must have the following:
a suitable GSM mobile telephone: Siemens S4 (with S4
firmware revision 26.9.1995 or later) and the identical
mobile telephones Siemens S3(com) and Sony CMD
X1000, and Siemens S10(D, active) as well as the
identical Siemens E10(D) and Sony CMD X2000.
GSM telefax and data services must be enabled.
If you want to use your AVM Mobile ISDN-Controller
M2 outside Germany, please remember that the GSM
telefax and data services are not yet available everywhere.
For further information, please ask your national GSM
operator about the international availability of services.
2.2 Handling the AVM Mobile ISDN-
Controller M2
Inserting the AVM Mobile ISDN-Controller M2 in the
PCMCIA slot is simple. The guide rails on the edges make
it impossible to insert it wrong.
1. Choose the appropriate cable for your cellular phone
or fixed ISDN line. Plug the smaller connector into
the socket on the end of the PC card.
The Controller’s ISDN and GSM sockets are clearly
marked:
ISDN
(blue)
– to fixed ISDN line
GSM
(red)
– to GSM mobile phone
Using the wrong socket can damage the electronics!
The upper sides of the connecting cables are marked
with a colored triangle on the end to be connected
to the Controller. The GSM cable is marked with a
red triangle, the ISDN cable with a blue triangle. The
asymmetric shape of the connector makes it
impossible to insert it the wrong way.
