2 Prerequisites and Handling
The following sections contain information about the
conditions that must be fulfilled in order for you to use the
AVM ISDN-Controller M2, as well as instructions for
handling the Controller.
2.1 Prerequisites
In order to install and operate the AVM Mobile ISDN-
Controller M2, you must have the following:
• Your computer must have a Type II or Type III PCMCIA
slot.
• You must have one of the following operating systems:
MS-DOS, Windows 3.x, Windows 95, Windows 98, or
Windows NT
• You will need a CD-ROM drive for installation.
If the computer on which you want to install the AVM
Mobile ISDN-Controller M2 does not have a CD-ROM
drive, you may copy the necessary software to floppy
disks for the purpose of your installation. If you have no
means of doing so, you may also order the installation
floppy disks from AVM (see the address inside the cover
of this manual). Specify your operating system. The disks
will be sent to you free of charge.
2.1.1 Fixed-line ISDN Operation
Find out which D channel protocol is used on your ISDN
line. The AVM Mobile ISDN-Controller M2 supports
the D channel protocols DSS1 (Euro-ISDN) and 1TR6.
ISDN lines installed in Germany after December 1993 are
generally DSS1 lines. 1TR6 lines are now rare.
