1 Introduction
sche Telekom AG provides two different D channel
protocols, DSS1 and 1TR6. The first of these, DSS1 (or
“Euro-ISDN”), is the most widely used. ISDN lines installed
after December 1993 are generally DSS1 lines. The
older 1TR6 protocol is only rarely used today. The AVM
ISDN-Controller M2’s driver software supports both
protocols.
From the user’s point of view, the AVM ISDN-Controller
M2 treats the GSM protocols simply as D channel
protocols specific to the GSM mobile phones supported.
The integrated application software package FRITZ! by
AVM with FRITZ! for Windows 3.x and FRITZ!32 for
Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows NTis included
with the Mobile ISDN-Controller in a single-user license.
With its intuitive user interface, FRITZ! lets you perform
many communications tasks quickly and easily:
• Exchange files with ISDN or GSM-equipped computers
(FRITZ!data);
• Send and receive Group 3 faxes (FRITZ!fax);
• Log in to ISDN or analog BBS systems (FRITZ!com);
The communications software FRITZ!GSM, which is
included for the Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows
NT operating systems, is adapted to GSM standards and
offers a convenient user interface for GSM operation. In
addition to the FRITZ! modules described above,
FRITZ!GSM offers:
• FRITZ!sms (Short Message Service), to send short text
messages from your computer;
• Fonmanager, to edit and manage your GSM phone’s
speed dialing directory.
Other useful software, such as drivers for direct
connections to the Internet, is also included. For more
information please see the enclosed “AVM ISDN-Tools”
manual. You may also use other CAPI 2.0 applications,
such as remote access software, from AVM or other
suppliers. Simply ask your software dealer for details.
